Heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic required patrols to be increased and officers assigned to specific posts. CEOs joined forces with Patrol to ensure public safety during the holiday season. Criminal Investigations COMMENTS: The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is actively investigating a theft of jewelry valued at over $300,000. The victim met a female subject at a club in Miami Beach and brought the subject to his home in Bal Harbour. The victim awoke the next morning and discovered the subject was no longer in the residence and his jewelry was missing. Bal Harbour Detectives along with investigators from Miami Beach and Aventura located the subject. The subject was interviewed, arrested and transported to Jail. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date':. Incident Type Location 12-27-2019 Traffic Arrest 9700 Collins Ave COMMENTS: Patrol officers conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the area of 9700 Collins Avenue stopped the driver of an SUV for making an illegal right turn. Further investigation revealed the driver had a suspended driver's license. The driver was cited for the infraction and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's license. Date Incident Type Location 12-27-2019 Illness/Injury 10245 Collins Av COMMENTS: Officers responded to a call for help in regarding a 12 -year -old suffering from seizures. Miami -Dade Fire Rescue responded and treated the child. The child was stabilized at the scene and transported to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 12-29-2019 Disturbance 10240 Collins Ave COMMENTS: Officers responded to a call of a couple arguing on the 10200 Block of Collins Avenue. Officers located the couple and intervened. Both parties were engaged in a verbal dispute, however, there was no evidence of a physical confrontation. The couple resolved their conflict and left the area. Date 12-29-2019 Incident Type Domestic Dispute Location 100 Block/ Bal Bay Dr COMMENTS: Bal Harbour Officers responded to a domestic dispute on the 100 Block of Bal Bay Drive. The dispute involved the property owner and the tenant's girlfriend. The owner of the property wanted the girlfriend to leave the premises. The tenant's girlfriend voluntarily agreed to leave the property. No other incidents were reported. Date 12-29-2019 Incident Type Assist Other Agency Location Surfside COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers on ATVs assisted Surfside PD in the search for a female threatening suicide. Bal Harbour ATV officers searched the beaches but did not locate the female. The female was located by Surfside officers in the area of Collins Avenue & 96th Street. No injuries were reported. Date Incident Type Location 12/27/19-01/02/20 Traffic Detail Collins Avenue Corridor COMMENTS: In response to the increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic, Bal Harbour Police enhanced police presence at targeted intersections to mitigate traffic congestion and assist at pedestrian crosswalks. Officers were strategically placed throughout the Collins Avenue corridor to address any traffic related issues. 4 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT Raleigh Flowers, Jr. Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report ofFI,E ---- POLIOE_, FL Date Incident Type Location 01/02/2020 Animal Bal Bay drive COMMENTS: Residents reported a possible Bobcat loose in the residential gated community. Bal Harbour officers obtained a photo taken by a resident. The photo was shared with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and Miami -Dade County Animal Control. Both agencies confirmed the animal was a domesticated Main Coon Cat. It was later discovered the cat belonged to a resident located on Park Drive. With the assistance of Bal Harbour officers and residents in the gated community, the cat and owner were reunited. Date Incident Type Location 01/02/2020 Assist Town of Surfside 9540 Collins Avenue, Shul of Bal Harbour COMMENTS: Bal Harbour officers were dispatched to assist the Town of Surfside regarding a Burglary in Progress in the construction zone at the Shul of Bal Harbour. Upon arrival, Surfside officers were able to apprehend the subject. Bal Harbour officers assisted with the crime scene and returned to Bal Harbour and resumed normal police functions. Date Incident Type Location 01/02/2020 Warrant / Traffic Arrest 10200 Block of Collins Avenue COMMENTS: While conducting traffic enforcement along the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer received an alert from the License Plate Reader. The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver had a suspended driver license for failure to appear in court and an active Bench Warrant.
