Gonzalez, Village Manager Date: February 10, 2020 Subject: Florida Department of Transportation FDOT Public Workshop Notification February 13, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to provide you with information that the Village has received, regarding the upcoming Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Public Hearing to be held on February 13, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, First Floor Meeting Room, 18070 Collins Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for a roadway improvement project along State Road (SR) A1A/Collins Avenue from north of Haulover Inlet to south of Bayview Drive/158 Street, in Miami -Dade County. The Public Hearing will provide information concerning the project and solicit public input. The following work planned for this project is provided below: The attached provides further information as provided by FDOT. JO/JMG The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is developing the design for a roadway improvement project along SR A1A/Collins Avenue from north of Haulover Inlet to south of Bayview Drive/158 Street, in Miami -Dade County. FDOT PUBLIC HEARING NOTIFICATION FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT SIX State Road (SR) A1A/Collins Avenue From north of Haulover Inlet to south of Bayview Drive/158 Street Project Identification Number: 430949-2-52-01 PROJECT DETAILS • Repaving and restriping the roadway • Constructing a new signalized intersection at the Haulover Park entrance south of the lifeguard station • Widening to provide a continuous bicycle facility • Modifying the Haulover Park entrances on the west side of A1A • Upgrading guardrails at pedestrian tunnels and Haulover bridge • Reconstructing sidewalk and curb ramps at Haulover Park entrances, pedestrian tunnels, and median curbs • Constructing a shared -use path on the east side and six-foot sidewalk segments on the west side of A1A • Upgrading traffic signs • Installing markings for bicycle use along the paved shoulders • Installing sea turtle lighting • Relocating trees in conflict with proposed paths • Improving drainage ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $5.6 million PROJECT DATES Work is expected to begin in July 2022 and last about seven months. Please note that the construction duration is subject to change. MUNICIPALITIES IN PROJECT AREA City of Sunny Isles Village of Bal Harbour POSSIBLE EFFECTS DURING CONSTRUCTION Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community. MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC Temporary lane closures during non -peak hours will have effects on traffic. Access to and from Haulover Park, adjacent neighbourhoods and business will be maintained during construction. Possible detours during off-peak hours. PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE: In order to offer you the opportunity to review this project's design and answer your questions, we invite you to join us: TIME AND DATE: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2020 LOCATION: Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, First Floor Meeting Room 18070 Collins Avenue Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160 The Public Hearing will follow an informal format allowing the public to arrive at any time from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a presentation at 6:30 p.m. Graphic displays will be shown and FDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. Public participation at this hearing is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status.
