HomeMy Public PortalAbout006-1994 - REZONING - 2308 NICHOLS AVENUEORDINANCE NO. 6-1994 A SPECIAL ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING MAP AT 2308 NICHOLS AVENUE WHEREAS the zoning map designates 2308 Nichols Avenue, Richmond, Indiana, as R-2 One Family Residence Special Use District, and WHEREAS it is desirable to change the zoning designation to R-3 One to Eight Family Residence District to accommodate conversion of the structure to four apartments, NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that the zoning designation of the real estate described as lots number 194 through 205 in Richmond Terrace Addition as shown in Plat Book 4, page 97, Wayne County, Indiana, is hereby changed to R-3 One to Eight Yamily Residence District. Wilcox to rezone the property at 2308 Nichols Avenue from R-2 special use to R-3 multi- family. The subject property is the former Mary E. Hill Youth Center which was damaged by fire last year. The petitioner would convert this structure to a four (4) unit apartment building. No one opposed the request and the Planning Commission voted 8-0 to recommend approval of this request. Hill Youth Shelter which is being sold by the Wayne County Board of Commissioners to Robert E. Wilcox who plans to convert the vacant structure into a four apartment building. The current zoning is R-2 One Family Residence Special Use District. It is necessary to change the zoning to R-3 One to Eight Family Residence District to accommodate Mr. Wilcox's proposed use. The ordinance should be referred to Plan Commission for pubic hearing at its meeting on February 22, 1994. The ordinance should be back to Council for second reading on March 7,1994.
