Item: Georgia Power Street Light Replacement Proposal – Replace 180 Cobra Head and Mercury Vapor Street
Fixtures with LED Roadway Fixtures – for an increased cost of $6.90/month ($82.80/year). This replacement program does not include the turtle friendly street lights because Georgia Power
has not developed a turtle friendly LED Street light to date. They have a turtle friendly LED parking lot light but not an approved turtle friendly LED street lights.
Explanation:
The proposed LED light fixtures use less energy and require less maintenance. Those savings are applied to the increased cost of the fixtures and replacement parts for a net additional
cost of $82.89/year for improved lighting of Tybee’s streets.
