Summary of Activities and Events
Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement Officers (CEOs) patrolling the gated community observed a residence on the Bal Bay
Drive with overgrown vegetation. CEOs issued a written warning to the registered home owner directing
the owner to correct the deficiency. CEOs observed a similar violation on the 200 block of Bal Cross
Drive, noting the lawn was overgrown and unsightly. CEOs also issued a written warning to this property.
Code Enforcement Officers assisted the Patrol Division by manning posts on beach details and patrolling
the hardpack and jetty areas. CEOs also assisted the Tourism Department by distributing flyers and
Village orders to hotels and condominiums throughout Bal Harbour Village. CEOs conducted follow-up
visits to hotels to ensure all pools were properly closed according to Village orders.
Code Enforcement responded to construction sites on the 100 Block of Camden drive and the 100 Block
of Bal Cross after receiving a complaint of work beginning before 8:30am. Contact was made with the
foreman at each location was reminded of the 8:30am start time. Both foremen understood any further
violations would result in the issuance of a code violation.
Criminal Investigations
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is assisted Patrol and Police Administration during the Covid-
19 emergency. The CID assisted with the compilation of situational reports for staff, and conducted daily
patrols of the Village to enhance police visibility. The CID is also working with Police Records to ensure
administrative functions continue and report deadlines are met.
Summary of Noteworthy Calls for Service
03-27-20 thru 04-02-20 Enhanced Patrol Bal Harbour Beach
Bal Harbour officers continue enhanced patrols of the hardpack, jetty, and beach areas due to the Covid -
19 restrictions currently in place. Residents are using the walking paths for daily exercise and practicing
social distancing during their walks. Officers monitoring the beach ensure the beach remain closed and
promptly respond to complaints of persons violating any restrictions.
03-28-2020 Disturbance 10200 blk Collins Ave (Beach)
Officers responded to a disturbance along the 10200 blk of the hardpack. A couple engaged in a verbal
dispute; no signs of a physical altercation were observed by officers. The couple resided in Surfside and
the female requested the male leave the residence. Bal Harbour and Surfside officers stood -by while
the male gathered his belongings and left the residence without further incident.
03-29-2020 Assist Citizen Haulover Inlet
Bal Harbour marine officers were conducting an area check of the jetty and observed an overturned
canoe; the occupant was in the water without a life-jacket. Officers were able to rescue the occupant
from the water and transported him and the canoe to the Haulover Marina. The occupant did not sustain
any injuries and was released without further incident.

03-30-2020 Neighbor Dispute 10200 Block of Collins Avenue
Bal Harbour police responded to a call of a neighbor dispute at a beachside condominium. The
complainant reported an ongoing dispute with his neighbor over loud music. Officers contacted the
neighbor who lowered the music. The call was resolved without further police action.
