2015 Annual Plainfield Irish Parade
Traffic Alert!
Plainfield – The 2015 Plainfield Irish Parade will occur on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., and
will cause traffic delays in and around the Village of Plainfield, and also Plainfield Central High School.
Unless participating in, or viewing the parade, motorists are encouraged to avoid the downtown area
and a portion of Route 126 on Sunday afternoon between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. due
to heavier than normal traffic movement and road closures.
Starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14th
Des Plaines Street south of Lockport Street will be closed for the placement of a tent.
Starting at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 15th
Crowd barriers and traffic barricades will be pre-positioned in the downtown area along
Lockport Street, James Street, Illinois Street and Commercial Street.
Parking along these same streets will be restricted. Vehicles that remain within the
parade route will be towed at the owners’ expense after 11:00 a.m.

Police will close the following roadways:
o James Street from Fort Beggs Drive to Lockport Street
o Lockport Street from Main Street (Route 126) to Route 59
o Illinois Street from Lockport Street to Commercial Street
o Commercial Street from Illinois Street to James Street
o Chicago Street from Illinois Street to Fox River Street
o Ottawa Street from Illinois Street to James Street

o Des Plaines Street from Lockport Street to Commercial Street
o Fox River Street from Lockport Street to Commercial Street
All streets will re-open as soon as the parade has cleared the area (anticipated to be
approximately 2:30 p.m.); except Des Plaines Street Lockport Street and Chicago Street will
remain closed until approximately 6:00 p.m. for after parade festivities.
No traffic lanes on Route 59 will be closed, however motorists should be advised that traffic back-up
and delays are expected.
Parade staging and line-up will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday at Plainfield Central High School,
located at 24120 West Fort Beggs Drive.
The parade will begin at Plainfield Central High School; travel north on James Street to Lockport
Street; travel east on Lockport Street to Illinois Street; travel south on Illinois Street to Commercial
Street; and travel west on Commercial Street to James Street; to return back to PCHS.
No parking will be allowed along the parade route beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 15th
until the conclusion of the parade. Parking areas have been designated at Plainfield Central High
School, and the Village municipal lots on Des Plaines Street (across from the old Plainfield Fire
Protection District fire station), and Illinois Street (next to the Library). Handicapped parking will be
accessible across the street from the old Plainfield Fire Protection District fire station, located at 15025
South Des Plaines Street, and also accessible on the north side of Chicago Street between Illinois
Street and Des Plaines Street.
After the parade, family oriented activities will occur in the tent constructed on Des Plaines Street just
south of Lockport Street in downtown Plainfield.
