Beach Sand Re-Nourishment Presentation
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to provide you with supplemental information
presented during the May 19, 2020 Village Council meeting Discussion Item R9B -Beach
Sand Re-nourishment.
During the Discussion, a presentation was provided by the Village retained Environmental
Engineering firm Cummins Cederberg Inc. The Director of the firm’s Jacksonville office,
Ms. Danielle Irwin, M.Sc provided the details and anticipated schedule for both the Dune
Sand Restoration Project and large scale Beach Sand Re-nourishment Project. The Power
Point Presentation from this Discussion Item is attached for your information.

Quick Facts:
•The Village’s segment of USACE/Miami-Dade Shore Protection
Project (SPP), anticipated completion in 2021;
•The project will help manage coastal storm risk and beach erosion,
provide hurricane surge protection
•Sand sourced from nearby flood shoal and navigational channels,
deposited on beach by pipeline
•Sand also sourced from upland mines, hauled to beach by truck
