HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-09-14 Task Force Meeting Minutes Advisory Task Force on Economic Development Meeting Minutes April 9, 2014 Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street Attendees: Tim Stetenfeld, Steve Preze, Michael Konrad, Troy Strange, Greg Schaefer, Harold Oliver, and Pat Fera (Will County Workforce Investment Board). Also: Brian Murphy, Michael Garrigan, Jon Proulx, Amy De Boni, and Rick Kaczanko. The meeting was called to order at 7:35 a.m. Anna Trost, Mike Paris, Pat Harbour, and Brian Davis were absent. Public Comments: None. Business Meeting Motion was made by Michael Konrad, second by Steve Preze, to approve the minutes of the October 9, 2013 Meeting. Motion passed (6-0). Motion was made by Troy Strange, second by Greg Schaefer, to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2014 Meeting. Motion passed (6-0). Pat Fera, from the Will County Workforce Investment Board, explained that the Workforce Board was created under Federal legislation. She provided information on their offerings which include services to employers and job seekers i.e. resume assistance, training classes, Mobile Workforce, job board, ATIM program, and free workshops. The Workforce Board web site is www.jobs4people.org. Michael Garrigan updated the Task Force on commercial projects including: • A fitness provider is considering the Staples building. • Ross is looking at the Barnes & Noble site. • Menards is expanding their garden center. • Several tenants are considering space at the Heritage Meadows and Kohl’s Centers. • There is a possible use for Prairie Creek. • The Dunkin Donuts proposal was discussed. Brian Murphy told the Task Force that the Village hired Retail Strategies to update the Village’s psychographic profile. They will also be assisting with scheduling meetings at ReCon. The Task Force also briefly discussed the national builders (Pulte, NVR) and their interest in the Village. The Task Force discussed economic incentives and drafting a comprehensive incentive policy. The meeting adjourned at approximately 9:00 a.m.
