Advisory Task Force on Economic Development
Meeting Minutes
October 8, 2014
Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street
Attendees: Greg Schaefer, Troy Strange, Tim Stetenfeld, Michael Konrad, Brian Davis, Kathy Scheller and Steve
Biggerstaff from Metronet, and one member of the public.
Also: Brian Murphy, Michael Garrigan, and Amy De Boni.
The meeting was called to order at 7:44 a.m. by Chairman Stetenfeld.
Anna Trost, Pat Harbour, Steve Preze, Harold Oliver, Mike Paris, Jon Proulx, and Rick Kaczanko were absent.
Public Comments: None.
Business Meeting
Brian Murphy provided an update on the ICSC Conference. Retail Strategies met with 15 retailers on behalf of
the Village.
The Task Force approved the 2015 Meeting Schedule.
Brian Murphy introduced the representatives from Metronet, Kathy Scheller and Steve Biggerstaff. Metronet is
interested in constructing a fiber network in Plainfield. Ms. Scheller provided background information on the
company and their plans. Mr. Biggerstaff provided details on infrastructure and pricing.
Michael Garrigan discussed the results of the Small Business Retention Interviews with the Task Force. Nine (9)
businesses participated in this round of interviews.
Michael Garrigan provided an update on residential and commercial development including:
• Next Generation Development is considering the purchase of 98 lots in Springbank.
• NVR is considering the purchase of 99 lots in Springbank and looking at the Village Center project.
• K. Hovnanian sold 12 homes in Fairfield Ridge and they are building single family homes in The
Cotswolds at Grande Park.
• Pulte is proposing a single family development near 127th Street, north of the Edward Campus.
• On the commercial side, Meijer has a contract for the property located at the hard corner of 135th
Street and Route 59. Ross is working on their new store on 127th Street and Route 59.
