Subject: Recent Architectural Review Board Action
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you two motions passed by the
Architectural Review Board (ARB) during its Regular Meeting held on January 6, 2016
following a general discussion under the agenda item New Business regarding the demolition
of the Church by the Sea.
A Motion, "based on the demolition of the most architecturally important
building in the Village, "to recommend to the Village Council, the creation of a
Village -based historic preservation board, utilizing the ARB or creating a
separate board, to identify and review historically significant buildings being
presented for remodeling or demolition, was Moved by Mr. Jaime Shapiro and
Seconded by Ms. Stephanie D. d Halfen. Vote. the Motion passed by
unanimous voice vote (5-0).
A Motion to designate Board Member Jaya Zebede as spokesperson to the
Village Council on behalf of the Architectural Review Board during the Regular
Council Meeting of January 26, 2016 was Moved by Mr. Shapiro and
Seconded by Mr. Howell. Vote: the Motion passed by unanimous voice vote
(5-0).
