AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF
RICHMOND TO RECEIVE DONATIONS
WHEREAS the City of Richmond, Indiana, has the option of accepting or rejecting
donations for a specific purpose, and
WHEREAS the acceptance of a donation for a specific purpose constitutes the
appropriation of such property for the intended purpose,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
that the following donations are hereby accepted with the heart -felt gratitude of the citizens of
Richmond:
A. Target Store of Richmond, a donation of $420.00 for the purchase of equipment for
crime prevention education by the Police Department.
B. . Dogs Against Crime, Inc. of Chesterfield, Indiana, a donation of $500.00 to enable
Officer Paul Phillips of the Police Department to attend K-9 Patrol School.
C. Bill Baker Insurance Agency of Hagerstown; Bowman & Thalls Insurance, Inc. of
Hagerstown and Cambridge City; Cutter Agencies, Inc. of Richmond; Flanagan -
Thompson Insurance Agency of Centerville; Harrington -Hoch, Inc. of Richmond;
J.T. Green Insurance of Richmond; Jim Loftis-Allstate of Richmond; Kaucher's
Insurance of Richmond; Nationwide Insurance -Werner Agency of Richmond; Rees
Insurance Agency of Richmond; State Farm Insurance Claims Office of Richmond
and Robbins, Matherly - Dils Insurance of Richmond, a donation of a Panasonic
Panafax facsimile machine valued at $240.00 for the Police Department.
D. Richmond Eagles Lodge No. 666, a donation of $8000.00 for the construction of a
mobile Fire Safety House to educate younger children on how to properly exit a
burning structure for the Fire Department.

This ordinance recognizes three gifts to the Police Department and a single, large gift of $8,000 by the
Eagles Lodge to the Fire Department. The acceptance of gifts by ordinance constitutes the
appropriation of such property for the intended purpose and fulfills the State Board of Accounts
regulations as well as provides well -deserved recognition for the donors.
The ordinance can be passed with all three readings in a single meeting upon suspension of rules to
advance to second and third readings.
