Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

10201 Collins Avenue Swale
A concerned citizen reported standing water on the sidewalk in front of the Oceana Building.
Further inspection revealed a broken sprinkler head caused a large puddle covering the sidewalk.
In the morning, Public Works was contacted as well as Brickman Landscape who responded and
corrected the issue.

Narrative / Comments
While conducting the Collins Avenue Traffic Enforcement Detail, a traffic stop was conducted on a
vehicle for speeding. Upon approaching the vehicle the officer detected a strong odor of
marijuana eminating from the vehicle. Further investigation led to the arrest of the passenger for
a small amount of cannabis and open misdemeanor traffic warrant. The suspect was arrested
and transported to jail and the cannabis was impounded.

Narrative / Comments
Bal Harbour police officers were summoned to the Haulover Bridge regarding two males fishing
from the top of the bridge. The officers arrived and located the suspects. The male suspects were
instructed that fishing from the bridge was prohibited. The suspects left the area without further
incident.

1 9600 Collins Avenue (SunTrust Bank)
Narrative / Comments
Bal Harbour Police received a call from a concerned resident who observed two male suspects on
the SunTrust Bank property drinking what appeared to be alcoholic beverages. Bal Harbour police
officers responded immediately and located the males near the west side of the building. The
suspects were observed charging their cell phones with the outside electrical outlet while
consuming a beer. The officers explained to the subjects they were on private property and did
not have permission to charge their cell phones. The suspects discarded their alcoholic beverage
in the trash can, and voluntarily left the area.

Traffic Stop/Marijuana Arrest

Narrative / Comments
While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer detected a strong odor of
marijuana emanating from a vehicle that passed him. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the
passing vehicle to inquire about the suspicious odor. When the officer approached the vehicle, the
stench of marijuana was prevalent. The driver originally denied having marijuana, however, later
admitted to recently smoking and voluntarily surrendered the remainder of the marijuana. The
driver was arrested and released on a Promise To Appear.

Beach Jetty
Narrative / Comments
While conducting a mandatory directed patrol of the Beach Jetty, a Bal Harbour police officer
discovered several males fishing from the rocks below the jetty. The officer explained to the
subjects that fishing from the rocks is a safety hazard and is prohibited. A routine background
check revealed, neither of the male suspects had any active or open warrants. The males
complied and relocated to the designated fishing area. Bal Harbour officers will continue to
conduct directed patrols of the Beach Jetty and the surrounding areas.

Felony Fraud Arrest
9600 Collins Avenue
Suntrust Bank
Narrative / Comments
Bal Harbour police officers were requested to the SunTrust Bank in reference to a fraud. Upon
arrival the officers detained an individual attempting to cash a fraudulent check. Further
investigation revealed the check to be counterfeit. The suspect was arrested and transported to
jail and the fraudulent document was impounded for prosecution.

Motor Vehicle Accident
10200 Block and Beach Jetty
Narrative / Comments
A driver drove onto the jetty with the front tire going over the edge, causing the vehicle to become
stuck. The driver stated that she was following the instructions of her GPS in route to the City of
Aventura. The driver displayed signs of impairment and a field sobriety examination was
conducted. The driver performed all of the tests which indicated that she was below the threshold
for an arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). An accident report was completed and the
driver cited. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck; the jetty suffered only
superficial scratches.
