February 12, 2015 through February 18, 2016
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the Bal
Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of communication
and transparency.

Narrative / Comments
While patrolling the condominiums on the west side of Collins Avenue an officer observed a truck
drive over the curb, thus damaging the grass on the easement.
The truck was stopped for the
infraction of driving off the roadway and cited accordingly. The public works supervisor was
notified and accessed the damage to the sod at $150.00. An
incident report was authored in
order to recoup damages.

Narrative / Comments
A female victim advised the Bal Harbour Police Department detective of an act of domestic
violence that occurred on February 07t" 2016. The victim advised that her fiance had struck her
during an argument, however she had not called the police on that date to report the incidnet.
Since that date the victim has obtained a temporary restraining order against her fiance. A watch
order was placed on the victim's residence and an information flyer was distributed to all officers.
Probable cause for the arrest of the suspect exists. The subject has not been taken into custody,
so officers will continue to periodically check this address. The investigation into the subject's
whereabouts continues.

Narrative / Comments
While assigned to a traffic enforcement detail on the frontage road, an officer conducted a traffic
stop on a vehicle that was traveling in the wrong direction. As the officer approached the vehicle,
he detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Upon questioning the driver,
he admitted to possessing a small amount of cannabis. A records check of the suspects driving
record revealed his driver's license was suspended as he was categorized as a Habitual Traffic
Offender (HTO). The act of driving with a suspended driver's license as an HTO is a felony
violation; therefore the driver was arrested and transported to the Dade County Jail.

Narrative / Comments
Security personnel for the Ritz Carlton Hotel contacted the police department, due to an internal
investigation of an employee. The security director provided evidence and details implicating a
housekeeper of theft in the amount of $5300.00 from hotel rooms on the property. All of the
evidence was impounded and the employee was arrested for Grand Theft.
