A GENERAL ORDINANCE- ABOLISHING THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC
GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AND THE ECONOMIC GROWTH AND
DEVELOPMENT BOARD
WHEREAS Ordinance No. 78-1992 was adopted October 19, 1992, for the purpose of
expressing support for a coordinated effort to encourage economic development
for all citizens and business organizati�gh ty of Ri
Wayne County, Indiana, by establishing a not -for -profit corporation to be known
as the Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County, Indiana, and
WHEREAS the proposed Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County, Indiana,
has been created under Indiana law as a not -for -profit corporation and is in the
process of organizing itself for its intended purpose, and
WHEREAS the Wayne County Council has adopted an Economic Development Income Tax
for Wayne County for the purpose of funding economic development efforts
through contractual relationships with said Economic Development Corporation
of Wayne County, Indiana,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana
that Section 31.02 (D) 7 of the Richmond Code, which created the Department of Economic
Growth and Development, be repealed effective July 1, 1993, and
Be it further ordained that Section 31.03 (I) of the Richmond Code which acknowledged the
existence of the Economic Growth and Development Board in relation to the operation of the
Department of Economic Growth and Development, which Board had been created by Ordinance
No. 57-1984, be repealed and said Board abolished effective July 1, 1993, and
Be it further ordained that Section 31.03 (J) of the Richmond Code be amended to provide that the
Economic Development CornTsion shall function in relation to the Department of Finance.
Passed and adopted this. day o 1993, by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana.
