OFFICE OF THE VILLAGE MANAGER LETTER TO COUNCIL
NO. 053-2016
To: Mayor Martin Packer and Members of the Village Council
From: Jorge M. Gonzalez, Village Manager
Date: March 11, 2016
Subject: Florida Legislature Allocates $500,000 to the Village for Storm Water
Improvements
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you the promising news that
through collaboration between the Village administration and our legal representative, Mr.
Ron Book, the Florida Legislature has allocated $500,000 for the Village's Storm Water
System Improvements Project.
Originally, the Legislature had only procured $150,000 for this project. However, the
increased amount was made possible through last-minute negotiating and clearly
communicating the importance of this project for providing quality, reliable infrastructure to
the residents and visitors of our Village.
However, despite these efforts, it should be noted that the allocation is still subject to Gov.
Scott's line -item veto powers. I will keep you updated as we know more on this issue.
