Capsized Vessel
10100 Block Beach Side
Narrative / Comments
A 32 foot power vessel with four persons on board was exiting the Haulover Cut when it began to take on
water. Fearing that the vessel may sink, the captain decided to beach the vessel near the 10100 block of
Collins Avenue. All persons on board were able to come ashore. However, the vessel capsized on its
starboard side due to the surf. A salvage company responded and began the salvage efforts to remove the
vessel from the shoreline.
While coordinating the salvage efforts, sea tow entered the Bal Harbour Marina in order to meet with the
capsized boat captain. A resident on his Yacht awoke and believed that he observed a man fall overboard
from a 75 Foot Hatteras docked in the marina. The resident called 911 which in turn dispatched serval
agencies to the area including Miami Dade Police Aviation. The resident initially provided a location out by
the sand bar, however once Bal Harbour units arrived they determined that both calls were one in the same
and that no one had fallen overboard. All agencies were notified and cleared the area.

Narrative / Comments
On this date the Bal Harbour Police Department investigated two vehicle burglaries that occurred at the

discovered that the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department had already recovered the firearm.
Further investigation of the incident revealed the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department had responded to
the area of Haulover Park due to suspicious males looking into parked vehicles. Upon their arrival the
suspects fled in a vehicle leading police into a residential area in Sunny Isles Beach where two out of three
suspects were apprehended after a foot chase.
The firearm as well as the stolen property from the BHPD case were located in the vehicle thus linking the
