AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1993 BUDGET
WHEREAS Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, adopted a budget for
calendar year 1993, and
WHEREAS Common Council has determined it is necessary to transfer money from one
major budget classification to another within a department or office, and
WHEREAS the transfer does not require the expenditure of more money than the total
amount set out in the budget as finally determined under Indiana Code
6-1.1, and
WHEREAS this transfer may be made under Indiana Code 6-1.1-18-6 without notice
and without the approval of the State Board of Tax Commissioners,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
that the 1993 budget be amended as follows:
A. General Fund - Department of Administration
1. Delete $10,000.00 for Disability Insurance
No. 101-1-9-901-3-3405
2. Add $10,000.00 for Temporary Disability
No. 101-1-9-901-1-1236

ORDINANCE NUMBER: 59-1993
TYPE OF QRDINANCE: Appropriation
PURPOSE: On June 1, 1993, the Department of Administration decided to
cancel our disability insurance with the Shenadoah Life Insurance
Company. This was a full service insurance company with
premiums of approximately $2,000.00 monthly. We have since
become self -insured with Coresource as our third party
administrator. Coresource also handles the City's health insurance.
With this action we believe there will be quite a savings to the City
of Richmond.
As a result of this action, we will have to transfer some monies to a
new Temporary Disability account since this will be treated as a
benefit to our employees. We will now have two accounts for
disability, one for the administrative costs (Disability Insurance) and
one for the disability wages to our employees (Temporary
Disability).
