However they are sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/29/16 Code Violation 10200 Block Collins on walking path Narrative / Comments While conducting a beach check, an officer observed a female walking her dog on the walking path, which she allowed to defecate and urinate. The dog owner is a village resident which has been previously educated as to the specifics of the ordinance. OVERT Chief of Police 0p4 HARBpGA� '0 �p�LIGE�' FLA Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/29/16 Overturned Vessel Haulover Inlet / Bal Harbour Jetty Narrative / Comments A 911 emergency call was received by Miami Dade County regarding an overturned vessel. The information was that one person was in the water and another was clinging to the overturned vessel. As Bal Harbour police officers arrived they located one boater who had swum to the Jetty and they spotted the other boater holding on to the vessel. Indian Creek Marine Patrol responded and rescued the boater clinging to the vessel. The boaters were not seriously hurt, they only sustained minor scrapes and cuts. Both were transported to the Haulover Marina where Miami Dade Police assumed control of the incident. Bal Harbour police officers remained on the Jetty with the spot light on the overturned vessel for safety. Sea Tow responded and towed the vessel to the marina. Date Incident/Arrest Location Arrest / Felony Retail Theft 9700 Collins Avenue 04/29/16 Fraudulent use of Credit Cards Bal Harbour Shops Identity Theft / Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour Shops Security called the police department and reported a Theft/Fraud in -progress. Security further stated that they were following the subjects who were walking from store to store. Several Bal Harbor police officers were dispatched to the area and quickly apprehended the two individuals without incident. The investigation revealed the subjects made two purchases from two stores utilizing stolen/embossed fraudulent credit cards. The subjects utilized false identities and were in possession of several credit cards that did not belong to them. The subjects had an extensive criminal history ranging from economic crimes to armed robbery. The subjects were processed at the Bal Harbour booking facility and later transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. All available surveillance footage was secured and the evidence/contraband was impounded and placed in the Bal Harbour property section. Bal Harbour detectives were contacted and took over the investigation. Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/30/16-5/01/16 Beach Ranger Detail Bal Harbour Beach Narrative / Comments Due to the increase in the number of persons visiting the Bal Harbour Beach, an additional police officer was assigned to the beach in order to ensure the safety of our visitors and residents. OVERTO Chief of Police xf,l e QA Hq 8IF pR ' tipoL1GE,�, FLA Date Incident/Arrest Location 04/30/16 Damage Property Bal Harbour Jetty Narrative / Comments The Bal Harbour Police Department was notified of a village trash can located in the rocks off the beach jetty. A Bal Harbour police officer responded and located the trash can. It is unknown if the can was deliberately pushed off the jetty into the rocks. Public Works personnel were notified and removed the can. No injuries or other property damages were reported. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/01/16 AOA W/Surfside Police Harding Avenue/92 Street Narrative / Comments At the request of SurFside police, a Bal Harbour police officer responded to assist with an active perimeter of a wanted subject. The Bal Harbour police officer was assigned to an intersection within the perimeter until the Miami Beach police conducted a search for the subject. The subject was not located and the perimeter was terminated. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/01/16 Drug Arrest 10200 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While conducting the Collins Avenue Traffic Enforcement Detail, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a suspicious vehicle traveling on Collins Avenue. A routine records check revealed the registered owner's drivers license was suspended. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the suspicious vehicle; upon the officer approaching the vehicle, he detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. When the officer inquired about the marijuana odor, the driver admitted to smoking marijuana and surrendered the remaining amount of marijuana. The Bal Harbour police officer also confirmed the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. OVERTON Chief of Police Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/04/16 AOA/Sunny Isles Police 10200 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments The Sunny Isles Police Department requested assistance from Bal Harbour police officers in detaining a vehicle travelling north on Collins Avenue into the village. Bal Harbour police officers located the vehicle and assisted in conducting a traffic stop. The Sunny Isles Police Department completed the traffic stop and all Bal Harbour officers resumed normal patrol functions. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/04/16 AOA/Surfside Police 9500 Harding Avenue Narrative / Comments At the request of the Surfside Police Department, a bilingual Bal Harbour police officer responded to 9500 Harding Avenue to assist that agency in providing translation for an individual that was detained. Upon completion of the traffic stop, the Bal Harbour police officer returned and resumed normal patrol functions. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/05/16 AOA/Miami-Dade Police 10101 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments Miami -Dade Police Intercostal District broadcasted a be on the lookout (B.O.L.O.) of an individual who was observed attempting to burglarize a structure at the Haulover Park. The individual was last seen traveling south on Collins Avenue. Bal Harbour police officers saturated the area and located the individual walking south on Collins Avenue into the Village. Once the individual detected the Bal Harbour officers' presence, the individual began running south then north on Collins Avenue. Neighboring police agencies from Surfside, Sunny Isles and Bay Harbour Islands provided assistance in apprehending the individual. OVERTON Chief of Police Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/05/16 Drug Arrest 10100 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a motorist commit a traffic infraction and was detained. When the officer approached the vehicle, he detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The officer questioned the driver regarding the marijuana odor. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana and eventually surrendered the remaining amount of marijuana to the officer. The driver was issued a traffic citation and arrested and released on scene with a Promise to Appear in court (PTA). Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/05/16 DUI Arrest 10200 Block of Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments A motorist advised a Bal Harbour police officer of an erratic driver traveling on Collins Avenue. The officer observed the vehicle as it attempted to enter the gated community and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was not a village resident and the officer detected a smell of alcohol on the driver's breath. A sobriety examination was conducted, which the individual failed. He was arrested and transported to jail for Driving Under the Influence. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/05/16 Traffic Arrest 9700 Block of Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments An officer observed a vehicle traveling on Collins Avenue with heavy damage. Fearing the driver had been involved in a crash, the officer detained the driver. A county wide broadcast of the vehicle was conducted in the event of a hit and run being reported by another jurisdiction; however no incidents had been reported. A records check of the individuals' drivers' license was conducted revealing over six suspensions on the driving privilege issued and an extensive negative driving history. The driver was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County jail. Completed by: Captain M.
