Response Count 42 42 25 Response Text lights should be required for all rental bikes. speed limit should be changed to 30mph at base of the Lazaretto bridge. It's hard to get the information out to tourists but I would like for the bicyclist to stay on one side of the road as they ride down streets, I have had to stop and wait until they hear me behind them. Most of them are all over the road and don't pay attention to the traffic. More bicycle paths. Enforce automobile speed limits more! We need a bikepath from the north end of the island to Ft. Pulaski so we can ride the trails out there. better signs on Jones Ave Add paved bicycle trail along US 80 where possible Better bike route signage on non-route roads, i.e. Jones; need better path to Lazaretto Creek Require Helmets for children under seventeen, ride single file, have a warning bell on each bike. warning signs on Jones Ave bike trail from tybee to spanish hammock. Bike trial from Tybee to Fort Pulaski over the bridge. Enforce helmet law for kids and keep bikes off Jones! I live off of 80 and am forced to either ride on the wrong side of the road or the sidewalk. We need safe bike lanes. please don't make bike lanes but rather, treat bikes as vehicles of the road. thank you! Get cyclers off Jones! The only part that worries me is when biking on the bridges. There is not a designated bike lane. Sidewalk on North Cambell. Busy traffic area and so many people walking or biking. Don't forget to include those of us who exercise via bicycle. There wasn't an option for which I would have answered daily - 60%. We need more bike racks at beach entrances to incentivize biking over driving to the beach. Also more separate bike lanes/trails to get around We are part time residents ie we own a North end vacation home (non rental) and vist about every 6 weeksBike racks at the north end beach. I am surprised that there are no bike racks at the North end beach boardwalks. Ticket bike riders who won't obey the traffic laws Keep people off Jones Avenue if at all possible. Better signage/ brighter colored for tourist to be able to know where Bike route is. find a way to keep bicyclists off Jones Need to make bicycle crossing at 2nd and Butler. Crossing Butler without the aid of a signal and cutting through Chu's parking lot to Jones are risky options due to the often high traffic flow through those areas. reminder signs at crosswalks that if you are ON your bike you ARE NOT a pedestrian. Please walk your bike through crosswalks OR observe the RULES OF THE ROAD get bike riders and drivers to pay more attention to each other. Follow rules of the road and use common sense. Texting laws should apply to bike riders too. TIPD really needs to crack down on the biggest threats to bicyclists and pedestrians - Golf Cart drivers are out of control. Speeding, drunk and ignoring stop signs and the rules of the road. Drivers of these silly vehicles seem to thick they are toys, immune to the rules. Teach people to follow rules of the road! We really need a path that can get out to Fort Pulaski. It would be so nice to be able to bicycle out there, but Hwy 80 is way too dangerous for this right now. Make the path for crossing over HWY 80 near the Suggsr Shack clearer. It is not clear what bikes should do there. Create a safe route from Tybee to Ft. Pulaski. Expanded bike path to Lazeretto creek I think the city should put bile trails and interpretive signs on the unopened roads. They should also extend the trail across the drive going into the playground and pavillion. This would act as a traffic calming devise ( essentially a wide speed bump). These are good ideas!! get a grip on golf carts. they are a menace to bikers on the bike path. More bike racks at at each beach x-over. NO parking on highway 80! BIKE LANES Enforcement of bike laws. If a person on a bike runs a red light give them a ticket. Increase the range to Fort Palaski. A bike lane to the Lazeretto Bridge would be great! it is fine as things are now More dedicated bike only lanes. Cars are allowed to park in the lanes. Then you find yourself in traffic. Very dangerous. Would like to see a campaign for wearing helmets. We do most do not. Less golf carts Question 2 is bad; I ride my bike for "commuting" on Tybee. There need to be many more bike racks, especially at the beach crossovers and YMCA buildings. Look for bikes locked to trees and posts. Put racks there. Also, need a bike rack at the Guard House. Rode my bike to vote, but there was no rack there! Bike lanes Categories
