However they are sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/14/16 Assist Citizen Intracoastal Waterway Narrative / Comments While conducting patrols of the intercostal waterway, the BHPD marine patrol discovered an unoccupied vessel adrift. The officers secured the vessel and located the owner who was riding a jet ski. OVERT6N 1 Chief of Police Date incident/Arrest Location 05/14/16 AOA/Surfside Police 9600 Collins Avenue _. Narrative l Comments. The Surfside Police Department requested the assistance of BHPD in reference to a suspected impaired driver which they had detained. The DUI certified Bal Harbour police officer responded and after conducting a field sobriety test determined the driver was not impaired. The driver was issued citations by the Surfside Police officers and released. . Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/15/16 AOANV Bay Harbor Islands Police 1361 97t" Street (Bay Harbor Island) Narrative / Comments The Bay Harbor Islands Police Department requested assistance regarding two males that had fled. Officers responded and assisted Bay Harbor Island officers with establishing a perimeter. After a brief perimeter, officers located the males hiding in the rear of a residence and took them in custody. The individuals were arrested and charged accordingly. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/16/16 Possible Fishing Violation Beach Jetty Narrative / Comments A concerned citizen contacted the Bal Harbour Police Department regarding a male on the jetty possibly spear fishing. Officers responded immediately and located the individual walking along the jetty in possession of a spear gun. The officers informed the individual that spear fishing was not permitted in the area of the beach. The individual then left the area without incident. Date Incident/Arrest Location Collins Avenue and 108 Street 05/17/16 Assist Miami Dade Fire Department Haulover Park Beach Narrative / Comments The Bal Harbour Marine Unit and an off duty Bal Harbour police officer responded to an emergency call for assistance, reference several swimmers in distress. The off duty officer along with a county life guard rescued the swimmers and brought them back to land. Three of the swimmers required medical attention, the the other two swimmers did not survive. Further inspection revealed that the construction area's on site well was overflowing as well as an irrigation pipe was flowing water. The heavy rains and high tides were also a contributing factor. The water was flowing into the storm drains however the outside northbound lane was partially flooded. The lane was closed as well as the sidewalk utilizing cones and signs. The on duty coastal supervisor and police officers established a safe zone for pedestrians to traverse around the standing water. Officers remained on scene throughout the night. The water leak was capped and the roadway re -opened prior to the morning rush hour traffic. Completed by: Captain M.
