Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/27/16 Traffic Arrest 9600 Harding Avenue Narrative / Comments A Bal Harbour police officer initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle travelling south on Harding Avenue. A routine check of the vehicle's tag revealed the tag affixed to the vehicle was not registered to the vehicle. When the officer approached the driver, he admitted to operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers' license. OVEF Chief of Poli � f' PARTM ENT 41��ERIli oF�', HAR@pGR s114 ) N 0 /9 i` FLA Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/28/16 Distressed Kayaker Biscayne Bay/ W Haulover Narrative / Comments The Bal Harbour Marine Unit observed two females in the bay west of the Haulover Bridge who were struggling to regain control of their capsized kayak. The marine patrol officers rescued the exhausted females from the bay and transported them to shore. The females were not injured and did not require medical attention. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/28/16 AOA/ Bay Harbor Islands 96th Beach Entrance Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour police officers were summoned to the 96 th Street beach access regarding a vehicle stuck in the sand. Upon approaching the vehicle they discovered a female asleep behind the wheel with a strong odor of alcohol emanating from her. The driver was awakened and given a field sobriety examination which she failed. Further investigation revealed the driver had fled the scene of an accident in Bay Harbor Islands; which had responded to the area. The driver was arrested for the hit and run and driving while under the influence. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/28/16 Traffic Arrest 9800 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments A Bal Harbour police officer, conducting radar enforcement on Collins Avenue, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit. When the officer requested the driver to present his driver's license, the individual produced a driver's license which did not belong to him. The driver subsequently admitted to the officer that his driver's license was suspended and the license he originally presented belongs to his brother. OVER N � Chief of Police 40 1 QP NA $o;;;; Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/28/16 Disabled Vessel Haulover Inlet Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Intracoastal Waterways, the Bal Harbour Police marine officers observed a disabled vessel drifting in the Haulover Inlet approaching the rocks. In an effort to prevent the vessel from striking the rocks, the officers were able to secure a tow line onto the disabled vessel and tow it to a safe area where the vessel could anchor. No injuries or damages were reported. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/28/16 Disabled Jet Ski Atlantic Ocean/East of Haulover Inlet Narrative / Comments The Bal Harbour marine patrol discovered a male in the waterways attempting to restart his jet ski, which was drifting into the path of incoming vessels. As a precaution, the marine officers attached a tow line to the jet ski and towed the disabled jet ski to the Haulover boat ramp. Date Incident/Arrest Location 05/28/16 Arrest Theft 9700 Collins Av Neiman Marcus Narrative / Comments Neiman Marcus loss prevention officers observed a male placing merchandise into a shopping bag and alerted police. The male exited the store without paying for the item and was immediately taken into custody by arriving Bal Harbour police officers. The male was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade county Jail. OVERTON M' Chief of Police Date Incident/Arrest I Location 05/31/16 Memorial Day Weekend I Collins Avenue/Bal Harbour Beach Narrative / Comments During the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend, Bal Harbour police officers were assigned specific details throughout the village to assist with the increase of tourists and residents visiting the beach and surrounding venues. In an effort to increase police presence, and ensure the continued safety of all beachgoers, officers on ATVs and bicycles were assigned to patrol the beach, parking lot and jetty. Additional personnel was assigned to the Collins Avenue corridor to assist with any potential traffic delays. As result of the combined efforts of the Bal Harbour officers, the Memorial Day weekend concluded without any reports of criminal activity or arrests. Officers had a total of 322 casual citizens contacts, issued a total of 112 traffic citations, 40 traffic warnings, and 40 parking citations. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/01/16 Fraud/Theft Arrest 9700 Collins Avenue Salvatore Ferragamo Narrative / Comments A male and female made several fraudulent purchases from the store over several days. On this date the store clerk cancelled a purchase by the same subjects at which time the male subject grabbed the merchandise and fled the store. Employees provided a detailed description of the subjects to the arriving Bal Harbour police officers. The female subject was apprehended by officers as she fled on foot. The female had several stolen and fraudulent credit cards in her possession. The male subject fled the area in a vehicle with the stolen merchandise. Utilizing investigative techniques, a Bal Harbour detective located the male in North Miami and also recovered the stolen merchandise. In addition, the detective located property taken from Jimmy Choo in which the store personnel were not aware of the fact a fraud had taken place. The male and female subjects will face additional charges as the investigation continues. They were arrested, trespassed from the Bal Harbour Shops and later taken to the Miami Dade County Jail. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/01/16 Disturbance 10295 Collins Ave North Lot Narrative / Comments Ritz Carlton security personnel called the Bal Harbour Police Department in reference to a person flying a drone near the building and the Haulover Bridge. Upon arriving the officer located the individual however he was no longer flying the drone. The individual had no active warrants or criminal history. Code Enforcement responded and conducted noise decibel readings at various locations and times throughout the building. None of the reading were excessive or in violation of the Bal Harbour Village Code. Completed by: Captain M.
