Rick brought a pie and ice cream for Mark Thorien, etc. Approval of amended minutes from August 4, and September 1, 2022 Regular Meetings (Action Item. Approve August. Motioned M. Thorien, second M. Weiss, all aye. Approve September. Motioned M, Weiss, M. Thorien second, all aye Pole Removal at Pioneer Hangar Update The pole that was in danger of falling on the fuel tanks was removed by the City Arborist and Airport Superintendent. Hangar Inspections Update Inspections going well, primarily concerned about proper fire suppression. FAA/Helena ADO Gary Gates visit Report The FAA inspection went well, and the Airport Superintendent is addressing a few small issues. Airport Sewer Extension Update The sewer extension is scheduled for Oct. 10 — 17. Granite Excavation is doing the project. Hangar 1000 and Hangar 901 and infield utilities update The prospective lessee of the future Hangar 901 has opted not to commit to the lease. Hangar 1000 lessees are forming an LLC and the new lease will go to Council later this month. RFP small hangar complex update Not done yet but progressing well. USFS update Rick Fereday moved to add a USFS update to the agenda, seconded by unknown. All aye. Shawn Walters reported that he is back in full capacity. Dan Crowell filled in over the summer and gave good reports, flow fee numbers are wrapping up and will be sent to City soon. Mr. Walters is cleared to do air tactical work, did local, near fires. Mr. Walters informed the group that in almost every initial attack fire this summer, General Aviation aircraft affected initial attacks, not TFR yet, not automatic, GA with no comms, had to orbit all fire a/c until GA decided to leave. Working on spring outreach. Appreciated the City. Short but intense fires. M. Weiss stated on ADSB can see aircraft on a fire, tail numbers, Shawn agreed and stated USFS personnel try all frequencies, tower, etc., tail numbers. M. Weiss suggested an article in IAA newsletter, backeountry traffic, can see why they want to go look, Chair Jones stated that most know, and don't go there (smoke), if you see smoke, there is likely a TFR or soon will be, controllers can articulate to locals and itinerants as well. We should ask Lori to mention fire/smoke to students. A0PA needs to chime in — avoid smoke. Ms. Hart asked if the USFS had any problems with private drones during the fire season. Mr. Walters reported no significant drone problems. He went on to say there is a prescribed fire at Brundage now, cleaning things up. Using drones. Brought in some hotshot crews to do perimeter, drones shoot interior. Payette National was first forest to use drones for prescribes fires after moratorium that resulted from New Mexico controlled burn getting out of control. R. Fereday moved to adjourn, seconded M. Weiss. All vote aye. Items for Future AAC agenda: Next regular meeting scheduled for November 3, 2022, at Noon. Motion to adjourn, moved, second. No objections.
