A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING A RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMIT AREA
Whereas a public hearing was held by the Board of Public Works &
Safety on September 30, 1993 regarding a Residential Parking
Permit Area as specified by Section 74.28 of the Richmond
Code, and
Whereas the proposed Residential Parking Permit Area consists. of the
following street,
S. W. 1st Street from S.W. "G" to S.W. "3" Street - both sides.
Whereas public testimony at the hearing on September 30, 1993 was
overwhelmingly in support of said proposed residential parking
permit area, and
Whereas the Board of Public Works & Safety has found:
a) The safety of the residents in said area will be enhanced
by restricting the intensive vehicle parking of non-
residents,
b) The residents of the proposed said area are unable to
obtain adequate curbside parking near their residences
because of widespread use of available parking by non-
resident motorists,
c) A residential parking permit area will alleviate the
problem of parking by non-residents of the area,
d) Residents of the area are willing to bear the costs of
purchasing parking permits, and
e) The Board of Public Works & Safety recognizes the need
for parking available in the proposed residential parking
permit area for use by the general public,
Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety, it
is recommended that Common Council establish a Residential Parking
Permit Area on the following street:
S.W. 1st from S.W. "G" to S.W. "J" Street, both sides.
It is also recommended that the Traffic Safety Division of the Police
Department reevaluate the yellow curb markings in this area after
Residential Parking Permit Area #9 is created.
Adopted this 7th day of October, 1993.
