OVER ON Chief of Polic Au Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals. However they are sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/10/16 Dispute 101 Bal Bay Drive Narrative / Comments The owner of the residence is involved in a payment dispute regarding unfinished landscaping work. The landscape company owner advised that if not paid in full that he would remove the trees he planted. A directed patrol was placed on the residence for one month and Kent Security was advised to deny the landscape company village access. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/11/16 Damaged Residential Village 96 Street & Bal Bay Entrance/Exit Guard Gate Narrative / Comments The guard at the main gate observed (via CCTV) a male who used a baby carriage to block the 96 Street gate from closing. The gate came off the track and was rendered inoperable. Bal Harbour police officers attempted unsuccessfully to correct the issue. Signs and traffic cones were placed at the 96 Street gate in order to alert the residents. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/11/16 Narcotics/Warrant Arrest 10200 Block Collins North Municipal Parking Lot Narrative / Comments While conducting a check of Frontage Road and the North Municipal Lot, a Bal Harbour police officer located a vehicle which had not paid to park as required. The officer made contact with the driver and passenger of the vehicle who were sitting inside. The officer detected a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver voluntarily admitted that he had drug paraphernalia in his vehicle which contained marijuana residue. The Bal Harbour K9 officer and his detector dog conducted a search of the vehicle but did not locate additional narcotics. The K9 did give a positive alert to the paraphernalia in the vehicle. After conducting local and national criminal history check, the driver was arrested. The passenger's criminal history check revealed an open bench warrant for Disorderly Conduct; therefore he also was arrested and transported to Miami Dade County Jail. OVERT v Chief of Poli 4" Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/12/16 Grand Theft 10200 Collins Avenue (Jetty) Narrative / Comments While on Bike Patrol near the jetty, a Bal Harbour police officer was alerted by a citizen of a group of teenagers who removed two bicycles from the bike rack. The officer immediately broadcasted a description of the teenagers to the surrounding jurisdictions. An area canvass in an attempt to locate the teenagers was conducted, however, due to the call's time delay, the teenagers nor the bikes were not located. The owner of the bicycles was located and a police report was completed. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/14/16 Assist Surfside Police 90 Bay Road Narrative / Comments The Surfside Police Department requested assistance from our canine unit in reference to a possible burglary to a residence. Surfside police officers had detained a vehicle with several suspects. A search of the vehicle by the BHPD canine resulted in the seizure of two grams of marijuana, the canine also alerted to several backpacks belonging to the suspects which did not reveal additional narcotics, however an AK 47 assault rifle was discovered in one of the bags. The Surfside Police Department continued its investigation. Date Incident/Arrest Location 06/15/16 Possession of Marijuana- Bal Harbour Shops Loitering/Prowling Arrests 9700 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour police officers observed three subjects park on the second level of the parking garage. The officers noticed the vehicle tag was expired and the subjects left the vehicle unlocked. The individuals were observed casing other vehicles in the parking garage and upon observing the police they began walking in different directions. Eventually all three subjects were detained and the officers initiated an investigation. The suspects provided conflicting and false statements as to their presence and actions. All of the individuals were arrested for loitering or prowling and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail. Two of the subjects had extensive criminal records to include armed robbery and battery charges. All of the subjects were given trespass warnings not to return to the shops. Completed by: Captain M.
