The regular meeting of Town Council was held today at 4 P M in the Council Room and was attended by Mayor Strong, who presided, Councilmen Hosti, Brown, Waters, Meddin, Lovell, Town Attorney Solms, Jr.,Chief McCutchen and.Mr.J. W. Lang. Mr. Lang informed Council that the amount due by delinquent water takers was $243.00, he was instructed to endeavor to get this money in. Chief McCutchen reported that the roof at the jail leaked and should be repaired, that all parking meters were down and stored away, that he had checked with Mr. Perry . Solomon ILL regarding his 1956 Building Contractor's license amounting to $50.00 which had not been paid and that Mr. Solomon stated he did not do any building' this year, he also stated that at the cottage of W. B. Manning on Fotrteenth Street he has cut off the sprinklers on several occasions and at a later investigation found that they would come back and turn them on. The Mayor called attention to the heavy expenses of the Police Department this year against last year, he stated that the telephone bill is high. The Chief stated that summer uniforms wdre purchased this year and that the police cars are serviced outside of the Town's garage at a private garage and that tires had increased in price. Regarding the Dual meters submitted by the C. W. Farmer Company of Macon, Georgia, of which they submitted a sample, Chief McCutchen stated that it seemed to be a good buy if the Town needed them. But after some discussion it was decided by Council that they would not be purchased at this time. The minutes of the meeting of September 12th were read and adopted. The Mayor informed Council that the T D 9 Tractor has been purchased as the price will be advanced by $800.00 on October let and it was also his desire to get the land fill method of garbage disposal started as quickly as possible, the Health Department and the County Commissioners will be invited to inspect the starting of operations. Bills for the month of September for General Government amounting to $2,243.65 and for the Water Department amounting to $771.06 were passed upon motion made and seconded. Attention of Council was called to the tremendous waste of water caused by some property owners and residents turning on their sprinklers and letting them run constantly, it was . decided -that these people would be sent a notice to discontinue this practice or further action would be taken, Councilman Lovell will handle the matter. It was moved, seconded and passed that the work of Mrs. Mary N. Edwards was not satis- factory and that her services would be dispensed with as of October 31, 1956. Mr. Solms informed Council that he had taken testimony from Mrs. Mark Tarver in connec- tion with her claim against the Town in the death of her husband, also that Miss Stella Akin, Attorney for Mr. T. A. Schultz, had written him in connection with the Town re- quiring Mr. Schultz to take an electrical examination, Councilman Hosti stated that if Mr. Schultz could show proof that he took a previous examination from the Town, then issue him a license but have him give affidavit that he took the examination. There being no further business, Council adjourned, subject to the call of the Mayor. Mayor
