Gonzalez, Village Manager Date: June 24, 2016 Subject: Independence Day Weekend Events The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to share with you the details regarding the planned Independence Day weekend events in Bal Harbour Village. Attached is a postcard which has been mailed to all residents which includes the details. In addition, the most recent version of the Village newsletter also included details. The Guinness world -record artists from the Sand Sculpture Company will be back in Bal Harbour Village to create a patriotic themed sandcastle. They will begin their work on the sand sculpture on Tuesday, June 28 to complete in time for the holiday weekend. Sunday, July 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. —Family friendly event taking place on the beach between 96th and 97th Streets to include music, snow cones and interactive games such as beach bucket brigade, water balloon volley, splash-n-dash relay races, tug-of-war, beach bucket decorating and a watermelon eating contest. In addition, there will be a sand castle building contest for children of all ages. Monday, July 4 beginning at 8:30 p.m. (with the fireworks display beginning at 9:00 p.m.) — music, refreshments and seating shall be available on the beach around 102"d Street. Miami - Dade County has adopted new regulations regarding fireworks which now require to double the normal distance of the finale chain shells, therefore a safe zone of 560' radius is required in order to fire the display so seating and viewing will be pushed south of the Harbour House.
