OVERTON Chief of Police FL Weekly Summary Report Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals. However they are sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 07/23/2016 Theft / Felony 9703 Collins Avenue St. Regis Hotel Narrative / Comments The complainant stated that while entertaining two ladies by the pool side, he placed his watch in one of the female's bag. Later in the day he discovered that unknown person(s) removed the watch from the bag. The watch was a Gold Piaget valued at $51,000 dollars. The victim did not have the serial number readily accessible at this time. The Bal Harbour Police criminal investigations unit has been notified and will commence with the investigation. Date Incident/Arrest Location 07/24/16 Unsecured Door Bal Harbour Parks and Recreation Bldg Narrative / Comments While performing a mandatory security check of the West Municipal lot, a Bal Harbour police officer discovered the rear sliding door of the Parks and Recreation Building was unlocked. A check of the premises did not indicate any signs of illegal entry. The officer secured the door and re -activated the alarm system. Date Incident/Arrest Location 07/276/16 Unsecured Fence 223 Bal Bay Drive Narrative / Comments While patrolling the gated community, a Bal Harbour police officer discovered an unsecured fence to a residence under construction. The officer determined the padlock on the fence was inoperable and damaged. A security check of the property did not reveal any signs of criminal activity. OVERTON �� . •� ��,��, E dv Chief of Police rb-six FLA Weekly Summary Report Date Incident/Arrest Location 07/27/16 Misdirected Turtle Hatchlings 10200 Block on the Beach Narrative / Comments While conducting beach checks officers located 30 misdirected turtle hatchlings. The officers carefully retrieved all of the hatchlings and placed them on the shoreline. Eventually all entered the ocean and began their journey to their natural habitat. The Fish Wildlife Commission duty officer was notified. Date Incident/Arrest Location 07/28/16 Arrest Drugs / Trespass After 9700 Collins Avenue Warning Narrative / Comments A Bal Harbour Shops store employee contacted the police department after observing a suspicious person who had previously been arrested for shoplifting. The officers watched the suspect as he walked through the shops and made no purchases. When the male observed the officers in the area he discarded a bag underneath a bus bench. Upon retrieving the bag, officers discovered that it contained 9 grams of marijuana. The officers also confirmed that the same individual had been properly trespassed during the prior arrest. The male was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and trespass after warning. The male was transported to the Miami Dade County Jail and the contraband was impounded and placed in the police evidence locker. BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT MARK N. OVERTON Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident/Arrest Location 07/28/16 Arrest Possession of Marijuana 9700 Collins Avenue Bal Harbour Shops Narrative / Comments The Bay Harbor Island Police Department notified Bal Harbour police of a felony vehicle entering the village. The vehicle had been reported stolen during a carjacking in Broward County. Officers from both agencies observed the vehicle entering the shops parking garage and conducted a high risk felony stop. The two occupants were taken into custody without resistance. Detectives from the Broward County Sherriff's office (BSO) responded and interviewed the suspects. As a result of the investigation it was determined the victim had falsely reported the incident. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended driver's license. He was released on a Promise to Appear in court on a later date.
