HomeMy Public PortalAbout005-2013 - Grant - Fire Protection & Saftey - Educational materORDINANCE NO. 5-20I3 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE FIRE PREVENTION & SAFETY GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and WHEREAS, The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program has grant funding available through the Fire Prevention & Safety Grant Program; and WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Fire Department desires to submit a grant application to obtain funds that will be used to procure smoke detectors, educational materials, and iPads; and WHEREAS, A local match of Six Hundred Thirty -Eve Dollars ($635.00) is required. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The City of Richmond in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10 has submitted or will submit a grant application to the federal Fire Prevention & Safety Grant Program. 2. The City of Richmond Fire Department is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to Five Thousand Seven Hundred Fifteen Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,715.00). 3. The local match of Six Hundred Thirty -Eve Dollars ($635.00) will be supplied by the Richmond Fire Department budget. 4. Said grant funding shall be used to procure smoke detectors, educational materials, and iPads. Passed and adopted this -e day 2013, by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
