OVERTON Chief of Police ` Weekly Summary Report Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals. However they are sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/13/16 Capsized Boat 10200 Block Ocean Side Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour police were notified of a capsized vessel near the intercostal waterways; Bal Harbour officers arrived and discovered several items from a vessel floating in the ocean. Marine units from the surrounding jurisdictions responded and coordinated a search for the capsized vessel and the occupant(s). Moments later, the Marine units located the capsized vessel. While the Marine units continued their search for the occupants, the owner of the vessel arrived and advised the occupants were safe and did not require medical attention. The capsized vessel and the personal items were subsequently removed, and the capsized vessel was towed to the Haulover Marina. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/13/16 Theft 9801 Collins Avenue Beach Access Hard Pack Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour police were summoned to the beach hard pack regarding a stolen bicycle. The bike's owner told the officer he placed the bike near a tree on the hard pack for several hours unsecured. When the owner returned, he discovered his bike missing. Bal Harbour officers immediately canvassed the area for the perpetrator and broadcasted a description of the bike to the surrounding police agencies. Bal Harbour officers were unable to locate the bike or perpetrator. As a follow-up, Bal Harbour detectives will devise a proactive and strategical action plan to address and deter future incidents from occurring. OVERTON p 0 Chief of Police *.OLiGE,=�q FLA Weekly Summary Report Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/13/16 AOA/Miami-Dade Police 13000 Collins Avenue (Haulover Park) Narrative / Comments Miami Dade Police requested assistance from Bal Harbour Police regarding a brawl at the Haulover Park. Upon the Bal Harbour officers' arrival, Miami -Dade officers were on scene and the parties involved in the brawl were separated and secured. Miami -Dade police continued the investigation and the Bal Harbour officers returned and resumed normal police functions. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/14/16 Hazardous Conditions 2 Harbour Way (Sidewalk) Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer discovered debris from a damaged palm tree obstructing the sidewalk. The damage to the palm tree possibly occurred as a result of the adverse weather conditions experienced in the evening hours. Public Works was contacted and coordinated the removal of the debris. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/15/16 FDLE Compliance Audit Bal Harbour Police Department Narrative / Comments On August 15, 2016, The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Audit & Data Collection Section conducted an audit and inspection of the Bal Harbour Police Communications Section. The purpose of the audit was to ensure compliance with applicable state statutes and regulations, and to verify adherence to the Florida Crime Information Center & National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) standard operating procedures. At the conclusion of the audit, the Bal Harbour Police Department received a 100% compliance rating. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/17/16 AOA/Surfside Police 8900 Byron Avenue Narrative / Comments At the request of Surfside police, a Bal Harbour officer responded to 8900 Byron Avenue to assist in locating a subject who fled from a Surfside officer. In an effort to locate the subject, Surfside police established a perimeter, however, the subject was not located. Surfside Police terminated the search, and the Bal Harbour officer returned and resumed normal patrol functions. BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT MARK N. J, FI.A Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/18/16 Assist /Bay Harbor Island Police 9700 Block of East Broadview Drive Narrative / Comments At the request of Bay Harbour Island Police, Bal Harbour officers responded to assist in the evacuation of a residential fire. Arriving officers from both jurisdiction safely evacuated all occupants of the residence. Once the fire was extinguished, the Bal Harbour officers cleared the scene and resumed normal patrol duties.
