OVERTON ,;:4"OLicE,,�aO Chief of Police •f.,,, FLA Weekly Summary Report Code Enforcement in conjunction with Public Works continues to check the entire Village for areas of standing water in regards to Zika virus prevention efforts. Code Enforcement continues to visit all construction sites at least twice weekly, maintaining contact with the contractors to immediately address areas of concern. Due to these efforts a warning was issued to the Kenilworth in regards to a clogged drain with standing water; the management of the location ensured the issue was corrected promptly. Code Enforcement issued three warnings for appearance violations within the Gated Community. Additionally, a survey of the equipment boxes along the beach was conducted. The survey resulted in four warnings for appearance code violations issued to the Bal Harbour 101, The Palace, Bal Harbour Tower and The Ritz Carlton. All of the properties were given two weeks to bring the equipment boxes into compliance with the appearance code. Code Enforcement in conjunction with Parks and Public Spaces will continue to monitor the appearance code along the beach. Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals. However they are sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/27/16 AOA/ Surfside 9555 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While conducting an area check of the Bal Harbour Beach, an officer noticed a vessel drifting ashore near Surfside Beach. The officer immediately notified the Surfside Police Department and responded to the shoreline to provide assistance. As the officer approached, he noticed a male walking away from the vessel towards him. The male told the officer the vessel experienced mechanical problems and the engine became inoperable. The owner of the vessel requested a tow service and the vessel was subsequently removed without further incident. Date Incident/Arrest Location 10205 Collins Avenue 08/30/16 Safety Hazard (Kenilworth) Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour officer noticed an unsecured scaff d swinging from the Kenilworth condominiums creating a potential safety hazard. OVERTON;�; Chief of Police ,+�•,.��,,,f FLA Weekly Summary Report Date Incident/Arrest Location 08/31/16 Disturbance 10100 Block of Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While conducting traffic enforcement on Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour officers were flagged down by the driver of a taxi. The driver stated that his passenger appeared intoxicated and was verbally abusive towards him. Officers interviewed the individual and also conducted a criminal history check. He was cooperative and was cleared of any open warrants. The individual paid his fair and later left the area in another cab. Date Incident/Arrest Location 9700 Collins Avenue 09/01/16 Credit Card Fraud Gucci Narrative / Comments The manager of Gucci requested police and reported a credit card fraud which had occurred earlier in the day. The manager stated that a male made a purchase with proper identification and left the store. Later in the day they received a call from the card holder informing them that the purchase was unauthorized and fraudulent. The store does has surveillance footage of the offender.
