OVERTON Chief of Police 4*� FLA Weekly Summary Report Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts / Comments Code Enforcement in conjunction with Public Works continues to check the entire Village for areas of standing water in regards to Zika virus prevention efforts. They continue to visit all construction sites, maintaining contact with the contractors to immediately address areas of concern. All construction sites were found to be in compliance this week. Additionally, Code Manager Escarra attended a mosquito abatement training session hosted by Miami -Dade Mosquito control. A Special Master Hearing was held to address three pending code violations. Code Officer Mobley presented all the cases, receiving an affirmative ruling on each case. The Quarzo was fined $2000.00 for an appearance violation. A unit located inside the Harbour House property was fined $3500.00 for a short term rental violation. Lastly, a unit within the Balmoral property was fined $5250.00 also for a short term rental violation. OVERTON Chief of Police 4po`�G ,..AS FLA Weekly Summary Report Noteworthy Incidents The incidents listed below are included in the above totals. However they are sufficient interest to be noted. Date Incident/Arrest Location 09/25/16 Disabled Vessel Haulover Inlet Narrative / Comments While patrolling the intercostal waterways, the Bal Harbour Police marine patrol noticed a vessel in the Haulover Inlet that was experiencing mechanical issues. In an effort to prevent the disabled vessel from drifting towards the rocks and creating a potential hazard for passing vessels, the officers were able to successfully tow the disabled vessel to a safe area. No injuries or damages were reported. Date Incident/Arrest Location 09/27/16 Fishing Violation Beach Jetty Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour police officers were notified of a fisherman possibly cleaning fish on the jetty. When the officers arrived, they noticed several fishing items scattered along the jetty. The male was informed that cleaning fish on the jetty is prohibited. The male gathered his belongings and voluntarily left the area. The officer conducted a random fishing license check of all persons fishing on the jetty. No violations were issued. Date Incident/Arrest Location 09/28/16 Suspicious Person 9700 Collins Ave (Bus Bay) Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer noticed a female asleep on the bus bench. The officer made contact with the woman and learned that she was homeless and did not require medical attention. She was offered homeless assistance; however she declined the assistance.
