OVERTON Chief of Police F.LA Weekly Summary Report Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts Narrative and Comments Code Enforcement in conjunction with Public Works continues to check the entire village for areas of standing water in regards to Zika virus prevention efforts. They continue to visit all construction sites, maintaining contact with the contractors to immediately address areas of concern. A complaint of an unpermitted fence within the gated community was investigated by the code officer. After consultation with the Building Department, it was discovered the fence is in fact permitted. The fence was found to be in need of minor repairs which were immediately corrected by the owner. All Code Enforcement personnel attended training in the use of the SmartGov software this week. The new software is being implemented by both the Building Department and the Code Enforcement Division. The use of this software will enable both departments to streamline the enforcement and permitting processes. Noteworthy Incidents Date Incident/Arrest Location 10295 Collins Avenue 12/02/16 Ordinance Violation (Haulover Bridge) Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour officers were notified that 2 males were fishing from the Haulover Bridge, when the officers arrived, the males were no longer in the area. OVERTON Chief of Police p Edr e:l C' FLA Weekly Summary Report Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/02/16 Disabled Vehicle 9700 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer discovered a disabled vehicle obstructing traffic on Collins Avenue. The Bal Harbour officer stopped and assisted the motorist in moving the vehicle off the roadway into a safe location until the wrecker arrived. No injuries were reported. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/03/2016 Vehicle Burglary 9999 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour Police were summoned to 9999 Collins Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary; when the officers arrived, the vehicle's owner, who is employed as a carrier for a financial services company, notified the officers that someone smashed the passenger side window of her vehicle and removed an envelope containing U.S currency from the sun visor. Bal Harbour detectives arrived and located surveillance footage capturing the incident. It is suspected the carrier was followed to the location from the city of Aventura. Bal Harbour Police Crime Scene responded and processed the vehicle for prints. Detectives will continue to investigate the incident. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/03/2016 Domestic Disturbance 290 Collins Avenue Quarzo Hotel Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour police officers responded to a complaint of loud talking in one of the rooms. Officers made contact with the occupants of the room who advised that they were involved in an argument regarding personal issues. The investigation revealed that no violence had taken place and no signs of injuries were observed. The persons involved were cleared of any open warrants and were given a noise complaint warning. OVERTON Chief of Police \ FLA Weekly Summary Report Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/02/16 Traffic Incident Collins Avenue Corridor Narrative / Comments While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, an officer observed a vehicle travelling south on Collins Avenue at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the speeding vehicle, however, the vehicle refused to stop and fled into the Town of Surfside jurisdiction. Bal Harbour and Surfside officers canvassed the area in an effort to locate the vehicle. Moments later, an officer discovered the vehicle abandoned. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was reported stolen. In an effort to identify the driver, Crime Scene personnel processed the vehicle for fingerprints. The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene. No injuries were reported. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/07/2016 Narcotics Arrest 284 Bal Bay Drive Narrative / Comments A concerned home owner notified a Bal Harbour officer of a suspicious occupied vehicle parked on the street in front of a residence. When the officer made contact with the driver he detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver voluntarily admitted to possessing two small baggies of Cannabis. The driver was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear. The contraband was impounded and placed in the Bal Harbour evidence locker. Date Incident/Arrest Location 9801 Collins Avenue 12/08/2016 Fire No Damage Narrative / Comments Bal Harbour Police and Miami Dade Fire Department were dispatched to the Bal Moral reference to a kitchen fire. Fire department personnel discovered that an oven glove had been left inside the oven which ignited when the oven was turned on. No damage and no injuries were reported.
