OVERTON Chief of Police 0, FLA Weekly Summary Report Code Enforcement Efforts Narrative and Comments Code Enforcement in conjunction with Public Works continues to check the entire village for areas of standing water in regards to Zika virus prevention efforts. This week the Miami Dade Emergency Management Department advised that they would be discontinuing the weekly Zika conference calls with partnering agencies but would continue to monitor the situation. This was as a result of the Miami Beach transmission zone having been lifted. There were two code warnings issued on the beach area this week after two separate individuals were observed walking their dogs on the beach. The Code Enforcement Unit also attended additional training in the use of the Smart Gov software this week. Noteworthy Incidents Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/09/16 Hazardous Conditions 10190 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments A pedestrian walking on Collins Avenue detected an odor of natural gas emanating in the area, Bal Harbour police arrived and confirmed the smell of the natural gas. Miami Dade Fire Rescue responded and coordinated with the police department to secure the affected area. TECO Gas company arrived, located and contained the gas leak. No injuries or damages were reported. Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/10/2016 Suspicious Person 10200 Block of Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments While conducting a directed patrol of the North Lot, a Bal Harbour Officer located a male laying down under the Haulover Bridge. The male stated that he was homeless and had stopped to take cover from the rain. The male had no open warrants; he was provided a Homeless Trust Card and was offered transportation to a shelter which he refused. OVERTON Chief of Policeb,po r .; Weekly Summary Report Date Incident/Arrest Location 12/15/2016 Power Outage Gated Residential Community Narrative / Comments FPL was conducting restoration repairs which required intermittent power outages between 6PM and 10PM. A Bal Harbour Officer remained in the area and alerted residents of the work being conducted. FPL advised at 8:30PM that the work had been completed for the day.
