Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Narrative and Comments
There were three code warnings issued within the gated community this week. The warnings
consisted of two warnings for maintenance and appearance of residential landscaping. The third
warning was for the maintenance and appearance of a construction site.
Additionally, there were two code warnings issued to beachfront properties. The first warning was
issued to the Harbour House property for the appearance of a beach equipment storage box. The
second warning was issued to the Ritz -Carlton property for the appearance of the sea wall adjacent
to the beachfront.

Narrative / Comments
At the request of Surfside Police, Bal Harbour officers responded to the beach area to assist in
locating a missing elderly male last seen walking north from Surfside's jurisdiction. While
canvassing the beach for the missing elderly male, a Bal Harbour officer located the male walking
on the beach path. The Bal Harbour officer contacted Surfside officers and the elderly male was
subsequently reunited with his family.

Narrative / Comments
While conducting a mandatory beach check, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a small group
of individuals who had ignited a small bon -fire on the sand. The Bal Harbour officer instructed the
individuals to extinguish the fire and informed the indivivals the igniting of fires is prohibited on the
beach. The individuals cleaned and removed all debris from the sand and immediately left the area.
No injuries or damages were reported.

Narrative / Comments
Bal Harbour officers were summoned to the Bal Harbour Beach regarding several small barrels on
the shore line. When the officers arrived, several beach patrons told the officers the barrels had
floated in from the ocean. The Bal Harbour officers determined the barrels were filled with gasoline;
Public Works personnel responded and properly removed and stored the barrels. No injuries or
damages were reported.

Bal Harbour police received information that someone had set up a barbeque grill on the beach,
Bal Harbour officers arrived and located the individual with the grill. Bal Harbour officers explained
to the individual that grills are prohibited on the beach. The individual removed the grill and relocated
to Haulover Beach. No injuries or property damage was reported.

9700 Collins Avenue (Makato)
Bal Harbour police were summoned to the Makato restaurant regarding a theft of a purse. The
victim told the officers she placed her purse on the rear of her chair, approximately an hour later,
she noticed someone had removed her purse. A review of the surveillance footage captured a
middle aged white male suspiciously walking away from the area. Bal Harbour Detectives
responded and secured a detailed description and image of the suspect. A flyer depicting the male
was published and circulated to the surrounding police agencies. Bal Harbour Detectives will
continue investigating the incident.

While conducting an after hour security check, a Bal Harbour officer discovered an unsecured door
allowing access to the SunTrust Bank. Bal Harbour officers conducted an interior and exterior check
of the building and determined there were no signs of forced entry or criminal activity. A bank
representative responded and secured the door.
