Detective Gonzalez utilized his teaching skills and expertise to provide autism awareness education to a group of 30 adult students. This group, which represented 22 fire departments throughout the state of Florida, found Detective Gonzalez's presentation to be both professional and engaging. Detective Gonzalez provided valuable information to emergency first responders that helped them to develop insight into the experiences of people with autism. This knowledge will be used to promote best practices for fire and life safety education as well as injury prevention programming.
