OVERTON Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts Narrative and Comments The code enforcement unit issued three violations for commencing work without a permit and two violations for commencing work before the permissible time. One of the violations was issued inside the gated community, three violations within the Shops of Bal Harbour and one on the east side condominiums. Noteworthy Incidents Incident/Arrest Location 01/21/17 Injury 9700 Block of Collins Avenue A tourist walking southbound on the sidewalk in front of the shops received a very minor cut on the leg from a wire mesh shrouding the base of the traffic control light pole. Part of the wire mesh was bent outward thus it made contact with the pedestrian's leg as she walked by. The base of the pole was wrapped with crime scene tape and traffic cones were placed around the pole. The affected area of the pole and the injury were photographed for the case file. The victim refused fire rescue however since she had no mode of transportation, the on duty supervisor transported her to Aventura Hospital. Date Incident/Arrest Location 01/22/17 Traffic Crash 9800 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments A motorist traveling northbound on Collins Avenue suffered a temporary medical emergency and lost control of his vehicle colliding with a village light pole and water vacuum breaker. Mimi Dade Fire Rescue arrived and treated the motorist who was released on the scene. Bal Harbo r officers conducted the traffic investigation and documented the property damage. OVERTON Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident/Arrest Location 01/23/17 Criminal Mischief 96th Street Bridge Retainer Wall Narrative / Comments While patrolling the ICW, the Bal Harbour Police Marine Unit observed graffiti located on the 96th Street retainer wall. Bal Harbour police officers will increase patrol activity and area checks in the area. Photographs were taken and Public Works as well as the Town of Surfside Police Department personnel were notified. Date Incident/Arrest Location 01/26/17 Domestic Violence 10275 Collins Avenue Narrative / Comments A female victim reported that her spouse battered her during an argument. The subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of the spouse for simple battery. The subject was arrested and transported to the Miami Dade County Jail.
