The code officers continue to check all construction sites for appearance and debris control. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 01/27/2017 Criminal Mischief / Graffiti 10200 Block on the Beach Jetty Comments: While conducting a directed patrol, a Bal Harbour police officer discovered that persons unknown had spray painted graffiti on the Jetty rocks and on the warning sign attached to the harbor light. Photographs were taken and public works supervisors were notified. Date Incident Type Location 01/27/2017 Assist Other Agency / FBI 32 Camden Drive Comments: FBI agents requested assistance from the Bal Harbour Police Department in reference locating a subject with an outstanding federal fraud warrant. Bal Harbour officers provided uniform presence as the FBI agents made contact with the individual. The wanted person was identified and taken into custody by the agents without incident. Date Incident Type Location 01/27/2017 Assist Other Agency / FHP 195 and NW 183 Street Comments: While enroute to work, a Bal Harbour police officer observed an accident scene on the highway. The officer activated his emergency lights and utilized his police vehicle to provide a safety zone. Once Florida Highway Patrol arrived the officer cleared the scene. Date Incident Type Location 01/27/2017 Disturbance / Loud Talking 290 Bal Bay Drive / Quarzo Comments: The Quarzo Hotel front desk clerk notified the Bal Harbour Police Department of loud talking coming from one of their rooms. Officers responded and spoke to the guests notifying them of the complaint. The guests apologized and advised that they would refrain from loud talking or causing any further disturbances. BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT MIGUEL DE LA ROSA Acting Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 01/28/2017 Gas Leak 9601 Collins Avenue / Majestic Comments: Bal Harbour police and Miami Dade Fire Rescue were summoned to the Majestic in reference to a strong odor of gas. The officer's diverted traffic from the area, as fire personnel restricted access to the building. The gas odor was isolated to the restaurant kitchen area, which at the time was closed. A Wireless Emergency Notification (WENS) was immediately issued. The gas line was turned off and Teco Gas was notified. Fire personnel gave the all clear after conducting an inspection and all operations returned back to normal within the hour. Date Incident Type Location 01/28/2017 Suspicious Person 9900 Block of Collins Avenue Comments: A concerned citizen notified the Bal Harbour Police Department reference a male, possibly homeless walking on Collins Avenue. The male was located sitting on the bus bench located on the 9900 Block. The individual was indeed homeless but appeared to be in good physical condition. Officers advised him of the Cold Weather Advisory and offered him shelter; however he refused any assistance. The male displayed an active transit pass and stated he was waiting for the bus. Officers conducted a local and nationwide check which revealed no active hits or warrants. The male boarded the next bus and proceeded on his way. Date Incident Type Location 01/29/2017 Theft 9703 Collins Avenue (Beach) Comments: Three beachgoers were in the water surfing when they noticed a male looking through their backpacks that was on placed on the sand. The surfers exited the ocean and discovered the unknown suspect entered their backpacks and removed their cellphones and a wallet. Bal Harbour officers arrived and canvassed the area for the suspected thief. A description of the suspect was broadcasted to the local jurisdictions. No other incidents were reported. Date Incident Type Location 01/31/2017 Found Property 10275 Collins Avenue Comments: A citizen found a credit card and notified the Bal Harbour Police Department. The officer was able to locate the owner's information, made contact and personally delivered the card back to its owner. Date Incident Type Location 02/01/2017 Assist Border Patrol North Bay Village / Pelican Harbour Comments: i Border Patrol Agents requested assistance from our Marine Patrol regarding an investigation. The investigation resulted in an arrest addressed by the Border Patrol. Once the scene was secure the Bal Harbour officers cleared and returned to their jurisdiction. 1 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT MIGUEL DE LA ROSA Acting Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 02/01/2017 Disturbance 200 Bal Bay Drive / Bal Harbour Marina Comments: The Bal Harbour Police responded to a report of an argument between a couple on a Yacht docked at the marina. The investigation determined that no crime had been committed. One of the party's elected to leave the area and summoned a taxi. Date Incident Type Location 02/01/2017 Criminal Mischief 10245 Collins Avenue Comments: A Bal Harbour police officer discovered that someone drew a name on a utility box located by the easement near the Indian Creek Bridge. Photos were taken and public works was notified reference cleaning the graffiti. Date Incident Type Location 02/01/2017 Suspicious Person 9900 Block of Collins Avenue Comments: Bal Harbour officers were dispatched to a male sleeping on a bus bench. The officers made contact with the male who stated that he was on his wa t'Miami Beach, but stopped to rest for a few minutes. The male refused any assistance or shelter and continued os way.
