Subject: Upcoming Unscripted Bal Harbour Exhibition Tour and Art Chat - Sartorial
Anarchy
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to provide you with an invitation to the
upcoming Unscripted Bal Harbour Exhibition Tour and Art Chat which will take place on
Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 5:15 p.m. at the Ritz -Carlton Bal Harbour.
The events will consist of a private tour of Sartorial Anarchy, an exhibition by Ike Ude on
Bal Harbour's beachwalk. The exhibition is guest curated by Museum of Contemporary
Photography (MoCP) Executive Director Natasha Egan who will lead a conversation with
Mr. Ude about his work following the tour. Additional details are included in the attached
postcard which has been mailed to all Bal Harbour residents.

IKE UDE
Conversant with the world of fashion and
celebrity, Nigerian -born, New York -based
artist Ike Ude is dressed in varied costumes
that span geography and time in Sartorial
Anarchy. These photographic self-portraits,
on view on Bal Harbour's beachwalk,
explore a world of dualities: photographer/
performance artist, African/postnationalist,
mainstream/marginal, individual/everyman
and fashion/art. Ude's work is collected
by the Salomon R. Guggenheim Museum,
the Smithsonian Museum of Art, and many
other museums and private collections. He
is the author of Style File: the World's Most
Elegantly Dressed and Nollywood Portraits:
A Radical Beauty; pioneered art/fashion
magazine aRUDE and style blog theCHIC
INDEX, and has made the coveted annual
Vanity Fair International Best Dressed List in
2009, 2013 and 2015.
NATASHA EGAN
Since 2011, Natasha Egan has served as
the executive director of the Museum of
Contemporary Photography at Columbia College
Chicago (MoCP), where she was previously the
associate director and curator since 2000. She
has organized over fifty exhibitions with a focus
on contemporary Asian art and artists concerned
with societal issues, such as the environment,
war, and economics. Egan was a guest curator
for the 2010 FotoFest Biennial in Houston, the
2016 Photo Dubai Exhibition and has juried
international exhibitions. Egan has contributed
essays to numerous publications and periodicals
and lectures international. For over a decade,
she taught in the photography and humanities
departments at Columbia College Chicago,
and holds a BA in Asian studies, MA in museum
studies, and MFA in fine art photography.
