Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The code enforcement unit issued one warning within the gated community this week for the maintenance and
appearance of a construction site. There was also a warning issued to the restaurant located within the Carlton Terrace
property for advertising their services to the public.

Comments:
Bal Harbour received information regarding a male standing on the Sea Wall near the entrance of the Jetty fishing.
Officers arrived and were unable to locate the male. Witnesses in the area stated the individual left the area prior to
police arrival. No injuries or damages were reported.

Comments:
While conducting a mandatory area check of the North Lot, a Bal Harbour officer discovered the bollard at the entrance
of the jetty was damaged. Security cameras from the Ritz Carlton Hotel revealed a male driving a red vehicle back into
the bollard causing it to detach from the stationary base. The driver was able to maneuver his vehicle from the damaged
bollard and flee the area. Officers secured the entrance with visible traffic cones and notified Public Works of the
damages.

9700 Collins Avenue (Makoto)
Comments:
Officers were called to the Makoto Restaurant regarding the theft of a purse. The victim advised the officers that while
sitting at the outdoor dining area someone removed her purse from her seatback. Surveillance footage revealed that
a white male removed the purse from the chair and fled the area. The description was provided to Bal Harbour Shops
security personnel and officers conducted an area canvass in a search for witnesses. The incident will be followed up
by the detective bureau.

Comments:
While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that
committed a traffic infraction. When the officer approached the vehicle, he detected an odor of alcohol on the driver's
person. The officer administered a series of Field Sobriety Tests and the driver was subsequently arrested for DUI and
transported to Jail.

Comments:
While conducting a mandatory check of the North Municipal Lot, a Bal Harbour police officer initiated a traffic stop on a
vehicle that violated a state traffic law, when the officer approached the driver, he detected an odor of marijuana
emanating from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of marijuana and drug
paraphernalia. The driver was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and released on scene on a Promise
to Appear (PTA) in court.

Comments:
While conducting radar enforcement on Collins Avenue, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a vehicle travelling south
on Collins Avenue at a high rate of speed. When the driver of the vehicle noticed the officer, he abruptly applied the
brakes, almost losing control of his vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop; issued a criminal citation for reckless
driving and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

Comments:
While on routine patrol, a Bal Harbour Officer observed a homeless male in the area. Officers offered assistance
however the male refused. A nationwide check revealed the male had no active warrants. The male boarded a Miami
Dade County Bus and left the area

Comments:
The Bay Harbor Islands Police Department requested assistance due to several suspects that had fled from a stolen
vehicle. Police Officers from our agency provided assistance and two of the four suspects were apprehended in the
area.
