Weekly Summary Report
Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The code enforcement unit issued two warnings and one violation within the gated community this week. The first
warning was for the display of an unauthorized advertising banner on a construction site. The second warning was
issued for the maintenance and appearance of the fencing at a construction site. The violation was issued to a
contractor who failed to use proper dust mitigation during a demolition.
Additionally, in conjunction with the Building Department, a violation was issued to the Plaza property when it was
discovered they were conducting unpermitted work to the pool area. The building inspector issued a stop work order
for the project.

Comments:
At the request of the Surfside Police Department, a Bal Harbour police officer assisted Miami Dade Fire Rescue on a
medical emergency incident involving an elderly resident in the Town of Surfside's jurisdiction. The elderly person was
treated by Miami Dade Fire Rescue and released on scene. The officer returned and resumed normal patrol functions.

Comments:
The Surfside Police Department requested police assistance with establishing a perimeter for several burglary suspects
who had fled from them. Bal Harbour police officers responded and secured a perimeter position. After an unsuccessful
canvass for the fleeing suspects, the perimeter was disbanded. The Bal Habour officers returned and resumed normal
patrol functions. No injuries or arrests were reported.

Comments:
At the request of Surfside Police Department, Bal Harbour police officers responded to the Solara Resort to assist with
an evacuation of the building and crowd control due to a fire hazard. Miami Dade Fire Rescue arrived and aftex resolving
the issue, residents were permitted to return. /I

9700 Collins Avenue (Bal Harbour Shops)
Comments:
A Bal Harbour police officer investigating a traffic incident in the parking lot of the Bal Harbour Shops, noticed a
suspicious vehicle with two male occupants inside. As the officer began to approach the vehicle, the passenger exited
and placed an item in the trunk. The officer detected an odor of marijuana as he approached further and requested for
an additional officer to assist him. As the officers were arriving two additional suspects exited the shops and upon
observing the officers by the vehicle, attempted to flee the area. All of the suspects were successfully detained and
further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen and a loaded semi -automatic 9mm pistol was located
in the center console of the vehicle. All of the suspects were arrested for various charges and active arrest warrants
and transported to jail.
