Two of the warnings were for the maintenance and appearance of construction sites. The final warning was issued for obstruction of a water meter which was preventing Village personnel from obtaining an accurate reading. There was one violation issued to a male who was discovered with his dog on the walking path where pets are prohibited. The male, a local resident, had been warned on several previous occasions as to not having this dog in the restricted areas. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 02/18/17 Suspicious Person 9700 Collins Avenue DSquared Comments: Store personnel notified the Bal Harbour Police Department regarding a male in the store making improper comments to the store employees and behaving in a suspicious manner. The investigation revealed that the male was a former employee of the Bal Harbour Car Wash who had just been terminated. The male was cleared of any active wants or warrants and was allowed to leave after being issued a trespass warning from the Shops Security supervisor. Date Incident Type Location 02/19/2017 Suspicious Person 9700 Collins Avenue Bal Harbour Shops Comments: Bal Harbour Shops security called the police department reference a suspicious male loitering in the mall. Upon making contact with the male the officers learned that he was an out of town transient who is homeless at this time. The male was provided with the information to the Homeless Trust and local shelter information. The male refused any assistance and advised that he would be boarding a bus on his way south. The male had an extensive criminal history but at this time no active warrants. The shops security supervisor did issue the male a trespass warning. Date Incident Type Location 02/19/2017 Ordinance Violation 9701 Collins Avenue (Beach) Comments: St. Regis Hotel personnel contacted Bal Harbour police regarding a German Shepard on the beach. Bal Harbour officers arrived and located the dog being walked by the owner. The owner, a tourist, was unaware of the ordinance prohibiting dogs on the beach, he was issued a warning and provided information regarding the Bal Harbour Village be4h rules and walking paths. No injuries or damages were reported. 3 BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT ` 05FIdzp,, 0AV HARgp`A � MIGUEL DE LA ROSH ° Acting Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 02/19/17 Traffic Incident 10200 Collins Avenue Comments: While patrolling the Collins Avenue corridor, a Bal Harbour police officer conducted a routine check on a vehicle tag. The officer received information that the vehicle had a seize tag order issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). Based on the information, the officer conducted a traffic stop and seized the tag. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently issued a criminal citation for Driving with a Suspended License and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Date Incident Type Location 02/21/17 Criminal Mischief 9800 to 9700 Block of Collins Avenue Comments: Bal Harbour Code Enforcement supervisor discovered that unknown persons(s) had intentionally knocked over 10 landscaping spot lights along the west side of Collins Avenue. Photographs were taken and Public Works was notified in order to conduct repairs. The Bal Harbour Criminal Investigation unit was advised and took over the investigation. Date Incident Type Location 02/22/17 Possible Burglary/Trespass 148 Bal Bay Drive Comments: The police department was notified of damage and entry into the pool house of the residence. The property owners of the residence were out of town and upon their return discovered that someone had entered the pool house area and the shower door inside was smashed. The investigation of the incident revealed an identification of a possible suspect and the Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating.
