The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you a Weekly Report from the
Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Summary Report
Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
The code enforcement unit issued two warnings within the gated community this week. The first warning was issued
for the maintenance and appearance of a residential property. The second warning involved an obstructed water meter
which was preventing personnel from obtaining a reading.
Additionally, a code officer in conjunction with the Building Department, issued a notice of violation for unpermitted
flooring work at a unit within the Admiralty property. A stop work ordered was issued and the contractor was instructed
to obtain the required permit.

9601 Collins Avenue, The Majestic
Comments:
The Majestic front desk clerk called the Bal Harbour police department and report two phone threats. The clerk advised
that an unknown male called the front desk making threats to shoot the clerk and further stated that there was a bomb
in the building. Bal Harbour, Surfside and Majestic security personnel conducted a thorough sweep of the property and
did not discover any suspicious packages or items. The caller mentioned a specific apartment, however, no one was
inside at the time the officers checked. The Bal Harbour criminal investigation section has been assigned the
investigation and will work with Majestic security personnel.

Accidental Fire
10275 Collins Avenue, Harbour House
Comments:
A Bal Harbour officer was dispatched to a fire alarm at the Harbour House. When the officer arrived, security personnel
advised that there had been a small kitchen fire which had already been extinguished. There were no injuries reported
nor property damaged as a result of this fire. Miami Dade Fire department responded, conducted a safety check and
deemed the apartment safe.

Collins Avenue Corridor
Comments:
A resident contacted Bal Harbour Police after discovering several damaged landscape lights along the Collins Avenue
corridor. Bal Harbour officers arrived and confirmed that an unknown individual intentionally damaged the light fixtures.
Public Works personnel were notified and will coordinate the replacement of the damaged lights. Photographs Iere
taken of the damaged light and the Bal Harbour Detectives will be reviewing surveillance footage from various lochtions
on the Collins Avenue corridor.

Comments:
Bal Harbour officers were notified that a suspicious male was laying on the grass near the Kenilworth property. The
officers arrived and located the male asleep on the grass. The male told the officers he was homeless and had laid
down to rest. The male was offered homeless assistance which he declined and immediately left the area.

Comments:
A Bal Harbour officer was assigned to the Collins Avenue surveillance detail. The officer observed a male matching
the description of a person of interest in connection with the damaged landscaping lights walking south on Collins
Avenue. As the male approached the Kenilworth, he stopped and kicked a landscaping light in an unsuccessful attempt
to break the light. The male then walked to another landscaping light and kicked it causing that light to break. The Bal
Harbour officer notified the other officers working the shift and immediately placed the male in custody. The male was
arrested and transported to Jail. Further investigation revealed the male was responsible for damaging several other
landscaping lights along the Collins Avenue corridor. Bal Harbour detectives filed additional felony charges against
this individual.

Auto Theft
90 Park Drive
Comments:
A resident of this location contacted police and advised that his vehicle had been stolen from his parking space in front
of the building. Investigative leads developed by the officers revealed the stolen vehicle had exited the Collins Avenue
gate at approximately 11:50 P.M. the previous night; furthermore the victim advised that he had received a fraud alert
from his credit card company at approximately 2:30 A.M. The alert stated that someone had attempted to make a
purchase at a gas station in the City of Lauderhill. Investigators responded to the gas station and were able to obtain
video of the suspect attempting to make the purchase with the victim's credit card. Simultaneously, officers contacted
the auto maker who provided the location of the vehicle in the City of Hollywood via an onboard locator. The officers
located the vehicle and established a surveillance with the assistance of the Hollywood Police Department. The suspect
eventually returned to the vehicle and attempted to elude capture as the officers attempted to conduct the stop. The
suspect was subsequently taken into custody, a search of the offender revealed that he was still in possession of the
victim's wallet. He refused to make statements invoking his right to remain silent and was transported to jail.

Auto Theft
114 Park Drive
Comments:
At 6:50 A.M. residents phoned police and advised that their Volkswagen Jetta had been stolen from the driveway.
Upon officers arrival they also discovered that the victim's other vehicle had also been burglarized and two (PADS had
been stolen. Based on the similarities of the case at 90 Park Drive, the investigators surmised that the same culprits
may be responsible for all of the crimes. Through the course of the investigation and contact with the victim, it was
determined that this vehicle was also equipped with a vehicle locator. The locator indicated that the vehicle was is the
City of Ft. Lauderdale. Investigators responded to the area and recovered the vehicle which was abandoned in a high
crime neighborhood known to local law enforcement officers. The detectives shall continue the investigation into these
matters.
