Home My Public Portal About053-1995 - SPECIAL ORDINANCE OF RICHMOND CITY COUNCIL FOR AUGUSORDINANCE NO. 53-1995 SPECIAL ORDINANCE OF RICHMOND CITY COUNCIL FOR AUGUST 7, 1995 IN RECOGNITION OF THE INDIANA THUMP JUMPERS Whereas the Indiana Thump Jumpers are a nationally and internationally recognized jump rope team that enhances the reputation of Richmond and Indiana, and Whereas the Thump Jumpers are good will ambassadors for Richmond, modeling good sportsmanship, the value of physical fitness, team spirit and caring for others, and Whereas coaches Lee Stienbarger and Leslie Crafton provide exemplary leadership for this team and are examples of sports coaching leadership for many other jump rope teams, and Whereas the Indiana Thump Jumpers have demonstrated excellence by winning Top Performing Team and two gold, four silver, and two bronze medals, plus six other top six placings, Whereas the Indiana Thump Jumpers won two gold medals, three silver and one bronze medals in the Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa, winning gold medals in both double dutch and single competition, and Whereas the Indiana Thump Jumpers are the trend setters, the leaders, and the force behind the growth of the sport of jump rope, and promote peace as they work with children and adults around the world, Be it resolved that in the City of Richmond the week of August 7th be declared and observed as Indiana Thump Jumpers Week and that the citizens of Richmond take great pride in the youth who presently and in the past years have made this a world class team. Passed and adopted this 7th day of August, 1995, by the Co on Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
