Bal Harbour Police Department that I requested in order to enhance the flow of
communication and transparency.

Weekly Code Enforcement Efforts
Comments:
The code enforcement unit issued five violations to businesses within the Bal Harbour Shops for failing to obtain their
Business Tax Receipt (BTR) licenses as required by the Village code. All of these properties had been previously
warned to renew their BTR's and failed to do so within the deadline.
A violation was issued to the Oceana property when the Building Department advised that their appeared to be
unpermitted work occurring within one of the units. A stop work order was issued for the unit and the contractor was
referred to the Building Department.
A warning was issued to the Admiralty property after the code officer observed the front lawn to be in violation of the
appearance code. The property management is currently working with a pest control company to rectify the situation
and will be replacing the front lawn to the property.
The code enforcement officer issued a warning to a property within the gated community. The warning was for a hedge
which is obstructing the view of oncoming traffic and pedestrians.
There was one waring issued on the beach when a beachgoer was observed with a dog on the beach in violation of
the Village code. The dog owner was advised of the permitted areas for dogs and immediately removed the pet from
the beach.

Shooting Incident
10245 Collins Avenue
Comments:
The Bal Harbour Police Department responded to a call of a shooting which had just occurred. Officers found a male
in the parking lot who had been shot while sitting in his vehicle. The male was transported to Aventura Hospital with
non -life threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation and area canvass revealed a possible description of the
shooter's vehicle seen leaving the area. Bal Harbour Police Criminal Investigations Detectives responded to the scene
to pursue the investigation. The Miami Beach Police Crime Scene Unit responded and assisted with the collection of
evidence. f I

Comments:
Bal Harbour police officers were posted at crosswalks in anticipation of increased pedestrian activity due to the
Passover Holiday and Spring Break. Additionally, several officers were also utilized to conduct high visibility patrols
during the week.

Comments:
Bal Harbour police officers assisted the Town of Surfside Police Department during a traffic stop on a vehicle that had
just committed a hit and run in the City of Miami Beach. Officers remained on the scene until Miami Beach police
officers responded and took over the investigation.
