AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE COLLECTION, REMOVAL AND
DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE AND TRASH REFUSE
VqHEREAS, thc Mayor and Council have previously authorized thc
solicitation of bid proposals for a contract for the collection, removal and disposal
of garbage and trash refuse for the Borough of Carteret; and
WHEREAS, on May l, 2002, the Borough received three (3) bid
proposals for said contract; and
WHEREAS, the Governing BoOty and the Borough Attorney have
reviewed the various bid proposal service options for the above described contract
and the respective bid prices for the same;
WHEREAS, the Borough Attorney has recommended an award of a five
(5) year contract to Republic Services of New Jersey, d/b/a Midco Waste Systems
as the Iow bidder for said contract based upon the service options selected by the
Mayor and Council as indicated as follows:
1. Republic Services of New Jersey
d/b/a Midco Waste Systems $2,243,763.00
2. Central Jersey Waste & Recycling, Inc. $2,697,642.00
3. Waste Management of New Jersey, Inc. $4,346,748.00
WHEREAS, fimds are or will be available for the award of said contract
based upon accordance with the annual budgetary appropriation for thc same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council
of the Borough of C arteret, County of Middlesex, Stat~ of New Jersey, as follows:
1. The bid proposal of Republic Services of New Jersey, Inc.,
d/b/a Midco Waste Systems, South Plainfield, New Jersey, for a
five (5) year contract for the collection, disposal and removal of
garbage and trash refuse, to include the service options designated
in the contract documents, in the total amount not to exceed
$2,243,763.00 and in conformance with the bid specifications in all
respects is hereby accepted.
2. The Borough Attorney is hereby authorized to prepare the
necessary contract documents and the Mayor and Borough Clerk
are hereby authorized to execute the .same.

3. A copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the
Borough Attomey, the Borough Pui'chasing Department and
Republic Services of New Jersey, /nc., d/b/a/ Midco Waste
Systems, 11 Hannich Road, South Plainfield, New Jei'sey 07080.
