The individual came off of the rocks without further incident. Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report Comments: The Bal Harbour Village police department completed a review of all Florida Department of Law Enforcement Officer Re -Certifications. In preparation of the 2017 Hurricane Season, the Critical Incident Management Plan was updated and printed. Detectives followed up on a fraud case and developed probable cause for arrest of the offender. Arrest warrant is pending. Sergeant Young continues to work on the security evaluation for the gated residential community. The Bal Harbour Village Criminal Investigation section received a report from a parent regarding possible sexual abuse of a sibling which allegedly occurred in New York City. Detectives in New York determined that the incident was consensual in nature. Furthermore, Bal Harbour detectives will meet with the Miami Dade County States Attorney's office to determine if any criminal acts occurred in our jurisdiction. Bal Harbour detectives assisted Sunny Isles Beach Police Department in identifying and locating a subject in a theft case. Detective contacted the Florida Department of Corrections regarding a current inmate who is wanted in connection to a fraud case. A retainer for the inmate was requested while detective secure an arrest warrant. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 06/04/17 AOA/ Miami Dade Police 10300 Collins Avenue(Haulover Bridge) Comments: An off -duty Bal Harbour officer noticed several young males at the crest of the Haulover Bridge preparing to dive into the Haulover Inlet. The off -duty officer activated his emergency equipment and instructed the males to stand near his vehicle. The males told the officers they were preparing a video to post on YouTube that would capture them diving into the inlet. MDPD responded and issued the males a warning, and instructed them to leave the area. No/juries or damages were reported. BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT MIGUEL DE LA ROSA Acting Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report Date Incident Type Location 06/04/2017 Assist Town of Surfside Police Department 9024 Collins Avenue Comments: A Bal Harbour police officer responded to the Town of Surfside pursuant to a request for additional backup regarding a wanted subject. The officer stood by while Surfside police officers detained the individual in question. The officer cleared after his assistance was no longer required. Date Incident Type Location 06/07/2017 Felony Theft 10275 Collins Avenue, Harbour House Comments: A tenant of the Harbour House was moving from one apartment to another located on a different floor. While transferring the furniture the victim and her assistant left an abstract painting out in the hallway. The next day the victim discovered the painting was missing and made the report to our agency. The Bal Harbour Criminal Investigation Section was notified of the theft. Date Incident Type Location 06/08/2017 Damage to Village Owned Tree 10175 Collins Avenue Comments: While on patrol, a Bal Harbour police officer observed a palm tree that had split in half and fallen to the ground. injuries or other damage was reported.
