HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 12-23 Centennial Wall DatesRESOLUTION 12-23 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MCCALL, IDAHO, ADOPTING DATES AND EVENTS FOR THE CENTENNIAL PLAZA ART WALL; PROVIDING FOR RELATED MATTERS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the McCall City Council appointed the McCall Centennial Committee in 2010 to develop activities and celebratory events to recognize the City McCall's 100th year of incorporation on July 19, 2011; and WHEREAS, the McCall Centennial Committee held a work session with the McCall City Council on February 24, 2011 to discuss a permanent legacy to recognize the Centennial; and WHEREAS, the McCall City Council approved the proposed concept, design, plans and location for the Centennial Plaza on June 9, 2011; and WHEREAS, the design of the Centennial Plaza includes an "art wall" to incorporate engravings and mosaic representations of dates and events important to McCall's history from 1911 to 2011; and WHEREAS, the McCall Centennial Committee met with long-time McCall residents, the McCall Historic Preservation Commission, and the McCall City Council to develop a list of national, state and local events important to the history and development of McCall; and WHEREAS, the McCall City Council approved the final listing of recommended dates and events (Exhibit A) at its regular meeting on November 8, 2012. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MCCALL, VALLEY COUNTY, IDAHO THAT: Section 1: The list of historic dates and events proposed by the McCall Centennial Committee and approved by the McCall City Council is adopted.
