HomeMy Public PortalAbout2019.056 (06-18-19) RESOLUTION NO. 2019.056 A RESOLUTION OF THE LYNWOOD CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF RECORDS HELD BY THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT RELATING TO CLOSED GENERAL LIABILITY CLAIM FILES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY'S RECORD RETENTION POLICY SCHEDULE AND GUIDELINES. WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood is a General Law City under California law and is governed by an elected City Council; and WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has adopted a Records Retention Schedule Policy which contains the records retention and disposition schedules for all City departments; and, WHEREAS, the Records Retention and disposition schedules are a comprehensive listing of records created or maintained by the City, the length of time each record should be retained, and the legal retention authority. If no legal retention authority is cited, the retention period is based on standard records management practice; and WHEREAS, the records to be destroyed do not include any records required to be kept by statute, records less than six (6) years old, or any video or audio recordings that are evidence in any claim or pending litigation; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood finds and determines that the Records are no longer required and may be destroyed. NOW, THEREFORE, THE LYNWOOD CITY COUNCIL DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Lynwood City Council adopt the Resolution authorizing destruction of records held by the Human Resources Department relating to closed general liability claim files in accordance with the city's record retention policy and guidelines.
