Home My Public Portal About089-1995 - APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RICHORDINANCE 89-1995 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RICHMOND TO RECEIVE BUILD INDIANA FUNDS Whereas Indiana Public Law 340-1995, Section 31 recommended that $300,000.00 be made available to the City of Richmond, Indiana for the renovation of McBride Stadium from the Build Indiana Fund, and Whereas this grant was approved by Governor Evan Bayh and the State Budget Agency on August 9, 1995, and Whereas the specific projects to be funded by said grant must be specifically set forth in the grant acceptance letter to be executed by the Mayor, and Whereas the Common Council has the option of accepting or rejecting grants for specific purposes, and Whereas the acceptance of grants for specific purposes constitutes the appropriation for authorizing the expenditure of such funds in the same legal manner as any other claims, NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that the grant of $300,000.00 from the State of Indiana's Build Indiana Fund is accepted and that specific projects be funded as follows: A. Upgrade of utilities $ 7,500 B . Extension of grandstand seating $65,000 C. Construction of new dugouts $60,000 D. Construction of new concession stand $100,000 E. Construction of permanent restrooms $45,000 F . Improvement of press box $15,000 G . Improvement of locker room $ 7,500 Be it further ordained that said $300,000.00 be deposited into the Build Indiana Fund, account no. 214-75-750-7508-4-4300 titled "Improvements - Other Buildings". Be it further ordained that expenditures may be made only for the specific projects described herein after claims have been filed and approved in the same legal manner as other claims. MILLIGAN City Attorney This ordinance is the formal acceptance of a $300,000.00 grant from the Build Indiana Fund authorized by the General Assembly and funded by the State Budget Agency for improvements to McBride Stadium. Senator Allen Paul orchestrated a very effective presentation of the City's request to the Senate Finance and Budget Chairmen, Governor Bayh, and Lt. Governor O'Bannon earlier this year. Representative Dick Bodiker was very helpful in obtaining House approval of the measure. This ordinance fulfills the appropriation process required prior to expenditure on the specific projects. Controller Dennis Grimes can answer any questions at your meeting. This ordinance can be passed with all three readings in a single meeting upon suspension of rules to advance to second and third readings. Sincere , Thomas S.
