They also conducted inspections of the sea turtle nests and hatchlings. There were four code warnings issued in the gate community. The warnings involved maintenance / appearance and one for illegal dumping of a sofa. Criminal Investigations Division Weekly Summary Report Comments: Detective Sergeant Jack Young continued to attend the University of Louisville “Command Officer Development Course.” Sergeant Young will graduate from the ten week course on Friday July 21, 2017. Detectives obtained video footage of a subject involved in a theft at Saks Fifth Avenue and issued a flyer to all surrounding agencies. Detectives continued efforts to coordinate the surrender of a wanted subject through his attorney. Detectives had a meeting with the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Offic e in regards to an ongoing theft investigation. Detectives responded to the scene of a disturbance where two subjects where subsequently arrested for Battery. Noteworthy Incidents / Arrests Date Incident Type Location 07/15/17 AOA/Bay Harbor Island Police 1501 Broad Causeway Comments: Bal Harbour Village officers responded to the Town of Bay Harbor Islands reference one of their officers requested back-up on a traffic stop where the driver had an open warrant f or his arrest. Once Bay Harbor Island officers arrived on the scene, the driver was taken into custody and our units cleared the scene. Date Incident Type Location 07/17/2017 Petit Theft 9700 Collins Avenue, Vince Store Comments: Vince store employees observed a customer remove a pair of shoes from the display rack and place them inside a bag. The customer walked past all registers, exited the store and did not pay for the shoes. Store employees contacted the Bal Harbour Village police department and provided a description of the offender. Within a few minutes a Bal Harbour Village police officer located the offender and recovered the stolen shoes. Vince store manager decided not to press charges after the offender offered to pay for the shoes. The subject was given a trespass warning by the store manager and Bal Harbour Shops security. The person was released after a national crime check revealed that she had no open warrants. BAL HARBOUR POLICE DEPARTMENT MIGUEL DE LA ROSA Acting Chief of Police Weekly Summary Report 4 Date Incident Type Location 07/19/2017 Residential High Rise Fire 10275 Collins Avenue Comments: Miami Dade County Fire and Bal Harbour Village police department were dispatched to an apartment fire at the Harbour House condominiums. When the officers arrived at the apartment they discovered that Harbour House security personnel had extinguished the fire and the residents were not home at the time. The source of the incident was a bag left by the stove with an open burner and caught fire. There was no damage due to the fire, however the fire department did utilize their fans to air out the apartment and hallway. No evacuations were necessary and there was minimal disruption to their normal operations. Date Incident Type Location 07/20/2017 Arrest / Battery Involving Mutual Combatants 10250 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour Square Comments: Bal Harbour Village police communications department received a call regarding a disturbance inside one of the condo apartments. Once on the scene, officers encountered two agitated males who are known to each other. The males advised that they spent the night in the friend’s apartment and subsequently engaged in a mutual fistfight over money. The apartment was in disarray and both subjects had visible minor facial injuries and bruising. Miami Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and administered first aid to both men. After being medically cleared, the subjects were placed under arrest for Misdemeanor Battery, Mutual Combatants. The subjects were transported to the Miami Dade County Correctional Facility.
